Music I like:
Aceyalone (favorite)
CVE (NgaFsh/Riddlore in specific)
Myka 9
Ellay Khule
MF Grimm (NOT MF Doom though)
Kool Keith and all his personas
Del the Funky Homosapien
Pigeon John
some Busdriver
some Abstract Rude
some Rakim

thats basically stuff I like. I don't care about production as much as I do lyrics, and I really like it if there's a story. Not just your regular run-of-the-mill stuff. I bought Buckwild's CD of remixes and although they were really good, I never got too much into it. Same with Omid's Beneath the Surface CD.

I don't want stuff where you can hardly understand the person.

Any years are fine. Try to keep it out of the 80s though.

Thanks!

Can we assume you've already got most of the '92-2000 era classics? If not there are probably at least a few albums you've missed out on.

What about Curtis Mayfield's first 3 albums(Curts, Roots, Superfly)? Not hip hop but arguably a huge influence on hip hop (especially Superfly) and will blow away most hip hop fans who've not heard them.

I got most of the discographies from the artists I listed. Besides that, assume I know NOTHING.

I've heard some stuff from Mayfield and while he is a great artist, he's not quite what I'm looking for. Thanks for the recommendation, though.

Have you checked out the rest of the Hiero crew since you like Del? What about Freestyle Fellowship since you like Acey?

I could give a list of about 30-40 90s era classics for starters but I figured you probably had a lot of stuff already.

Pete Rock and CL Smooth: mecca and the soul brother (fave); main ingredient
Talib Kweli: reflection eternal
Black Star: self-titled

Jurassic 5: self-titled
Roots: first 3 albums (organix; do you want more; illadelph halflife)
Lootpack: soundpieces

Yeah I have about 60% of this. But I'll definitely check out the other 40%!
But yes I do have all the Freestyle Fellowship/Hiero/Haiku D'etat albums.
Thank you!

Heres some good story/concept songs by Elzhi. If you haven't gotten into him, Europass and Preface are both ridiculously dope.

I would also recommend all of WesSezSos' list. All very good and not quite discovered on a bigger scale. I would also recommend Y Society, Damu the Fudgemunk (producer), Oddisee, Bisc 1, Johnson and Jonson, Asheru and Blu Black, Ken Starr, Cyne.

Keep diggin':D

yeah, that knonam, buff 1, big jess, unknown prophets is some slept on midwest flavor! most heads not from those areas just jump on atmosphere, brother ali maybe, which is cool, but there is so much more thats out there too.

i need to put buff 1 albums back in rotation. i played him alot while riding this past winter season. the homies digged the buff 1 and knonam as well. all of that big jess/unknown prophets shit is just as tight, just on a more personal vibe level for me, i dont think i bumped it alot while in the ride with friends - i dont know why thou, i like his high rule album. i am going to put that big jess album on right now... and go get:p outside homies.

"I am 30, dress like i am 17, drink like i am 21, think like i am 70...."big jess:bow: (note to self - you must get super hi to think like youre 70) now going outside.
