These 2 are byy ffaaarrrrr my favz from the P
Question in the Form of.. (2000)
The Next Step (2001)
They have another one called 'American Men - Vol. 1' which was a Limited Edition tour cd.. mostly tracks & skits sessions that didn't make the 'Question in the form & Next Step' albums...there was this other cat in the group named Smiley, who was a OG member of the group..Kid Lexus/Murs/Scarub/ on a couple of tracks

So before I go out and check these out. Would you say PUTS is improving with their newer material? I will say I enjoyed "Fun DMC" a fair amount more than "OST". I mean, both are dope, but I'm wondering if their newer stuff has that somewhat updated sound. That's not my deciding factor though. Just let me know your take on the newer stuff vs. the old stuff. Thanks!

The Next Step (2001) - you need this, very good.
Or Stay Tuned (2003) - you need this, very good.
The Stepfather (2006) - you need this, very good.
The Om Years (2008) - this is a lot of songs off all the above listed albums, but there is also some good stuff on there previously unreleased or from other projects. Get their main releases first.
What do I pick up next?
They also have an older album called "American Men", not the best quality, not really a must have unless you are a big fan and want all their stuff.
Also Thes One and some other doots put out a little EP under the name "Bloquera", its pretty good, production by Thes. Here is one of the songs from that EP...

Oh yeah and the answer to your other question, yes their newer stuff sounds newer. Better sound quality, cleaner samples etc, but its the same formula as the old stuff. I like their older stuff and newest stuff equally.

They're all pretty good and worth checking out. If you already have OST and FunDMC get Next Step and Question in the form of an Answer. Stepfather has it's moments, but I'd probably get the other two 1st.

Well, I got "The Next Step" and "Question In The..." last week and have been spinning both quite a bit. Both are extremely solid albums that will stay in rotation for quite some time.
I liked them enough to buy "Stepfather" today even though I don't have the money to spend on CDs....don't worry Access, the payment will clear...this time. lol

for the record...next step came out before Question...but when Question took off as an underground sleeper Next Step was quickly re-issued under OM.
Anyway...I give Question a near flawless 9.5/10...one of my alltime favorite hip hop albums...and ranks high somewhere in my Top 100 ever...of course...that list is just in my head in no particular order.
Next Step 8.5/10
OST 8.5/10
OrStayTuned (just bonus and extras but still good) 7.5/10
Stepfather (no longer on OM, they experimented with live instrumentation and less of their sample heavy previous work...one that requires revisits to appreciate in the long run.) 7.5/10
Fun DMC...no secret that I loved this album as they brought it back to the basics and even further back as far as the overall fun theme and throwback, carefree hip hop days. 8/10
The OM Years....is worth it for the Second disc...my rating for the second disc is 8/10...it features b-sides, remixes, compilation cuts and instros that for the most part weren't on CD before with a few exceptions.
Thes One - Lifestyle Marketing (excellent instrumental album) 8.5/10

Yeah, I figured "Next Step" was older when I finally got them in the mail. Makes sense.
Thanks for the ratings/reviews. "Question" is great. Only spun it a few times now, but it's getting better with each spin. I hope I like "Stepfather" more than you. The live instrumentation is appealing to me. I ordered it from you, so I'll let you know when I get it. And I did hear that Thes One was tight. I gotta check that out!

A false leak of the album was released on the internet on February 21, 2006. The leak was orchestrated by Thes One himself by recruiting members on the PUTS Online messageboard to spread the bad copy. The leak is in fact a recital of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner with an introduction containing such jeers as, "You got it way before everyone, you're so smart. You couldn't wait for 4.18.06, huh. You're smart, well enjoy this." The fake leak was also released as a CD called Redheaded Stepfather, given away with preorders from HipHopSite.com. Redheaded Stepfather also featured 3 bonus tracks, not found with the fake internet leak.
Maybe ask around the peeps on the PUTS forums.

Thes One - Presents Sound Crush At The Root Down
http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/1447/rootdown.jpg
----------------------------------------
Bloquera
Bloquera is an EP created by Maanumental, Newman, Sir Kado, Superbrush 427 (Giant Panda) and Thes One (People Under the Stairs). The group decided to take a spur of the moment road trip to Mexico as an ultimate road trip. The album was a result of a two week road trip to Mulegé, Baja California Sur, Mexico which was the inspiration for the album.
