just out of sheer curiosity, i want to know what you people think about anticon. is anyone else stoked on that new odd nosdam, those new alias beats, and/or sole's mansbestfriend part2? (among their older masterpieces) i like legends and anticon but i know a lot of people dont like both, so yeah what do you think?

I don't mind Anticon that much, some of the stuff is really out there and all but I appreciate it for the most part. I've liked most of Sole's work. I haven't heard Mansbestfriend Part 2 yet but I will check it out when I get the chance. I can't really hate on them that much, just that some people get wierded out by what they do I guess.

it's hard for me to understand why someone could be feeling what the legends do and not anticon. seriously sit down and listen to deep puddle dynamics, the Them LP, Bottle of Humans, The other Side of the Looking Glass and tell me that shit is wack. if you have really listened to it and still think it's shitty then cool, but it just seems hard, to me, at least, to deny that albums like those are quality works of art, u know? my 2 cents, god. out.

yea anticon is either a love em or hate em group.....there on their own shit, I personally like the restiform bodies group sound, they come up with some really cool beats and passage has got that golden voice, totally fits his style.....Pedestrian is by far one of the dopest writers i have ever heard if you really listen to what he is saying, you can tell this guy is pretty smart, i would love to have a conversation with this guy.....he doesnt have any shit out but i got some songs on kazaa by him, download "generation of dead beats"....dopest pedestrian song i have heard.....dose one is weird for me, sometimes i listen to him like the THEM cd and really enjoy it, and other days he gets on my fukin nerves, the Alias cd was pretty dope I liked that, i don't like sole for some reason except on other people's cds when he makes a guest appearance its weird, but i never like his solo cds...who else is there....ummm i think thats it, but if i were to argue for anticon basically i would just pass them a copy of the pedestrian song 'generation of dead beats' song, that song is sooo dope.peace.

I'll admit the anticon krew drops hellof garbage but they have a nice handful of dope songs for example...... soles bottle of humans, martyr theme song, inherited scars, la rambla, watching water and holy shit you gotta appreciate sage francis. i can understand why people say they're wack but theyre not they just arent what you expect every artist to be. If you want to keep art in your little bubble then you'l find yourself thinking most shit is wack and you wont be able to appreciate a lot of sick shit.

an example would be people telling me they're not going to the black eyed peas show that happened last night (sickest show i've seen yet) because they just dropped a song with justin timberlake. Well, they missed out on the sickest show to come this way just because of they're hate for a legitimate artist. well i'm sure you've caught my point by now but what you should learn is to give the music you listen to (anticon for example) more of a chance and look at it from the artists perspective.

yeah i agree with what ElighFan was saying. my feeling is that if you like the legends, you probably like anticon too, but don't really know it yet. here's why: i see them both crews as being on the same, or a very similar wavelength. i feel that they want hip hop to move in a similar direction. i'm a huge fan of both, but i'll admit that dose and why? for example, do some stuff that i even find a bit too liberal for my taste. the thing about them is, even their "wierd" stuff really begins to grows on you after a while, you just have to sit with it and let it all sink in for a good long while. i love dose's Circle album now, but i loathed the thing when i first bought it. "it's not even hip hop!" was my thought at the time, and indeed, it isn't. but i really do appreciate the artistic value of it now, because that album really is some crazy shit. i wish people would stop judging those guys based on superficial listens (which is what i perceive to be happening in many cases, but correct me if i am wrong. i very well may be). maybe people do really give them a fighting chance and still think they suck, but i've seen a lot of my friends make snap judgements about them after hearing part of one single song for the first time. there's no way to absorb everything they're saying on a first listen. i have been bumping the Them LP for about 2 years, and i'm still getting new things out of it. that's why i like them so much, they make challenging music to grasp, and i have a great time immersing myself completely in their music, and trying to figure their words, and them as people out. slowly, slowly. they don't spoonfeed their audience anything, and i personally, love that aspect of their art. I'm glad for once I don't feel all alone when it comes to Anticon, I think that it may come off as a little too weird fro some but if you give it a chance you can get to understand more than you knew there was to it... If not? than maybe 'fantastic damage' is as 'different' music as you may feel.

About Restiformed bodies, I love them live...one of the best shows I've been to was the anticon anniversary show dec 6th, due largely in part to how unbelievably great these guys are live.

There's a song on 'the other side of the looking glass' called Inspiration passing. It's a beautiful song...I relate to that song in such a way it brings tears to my eyes EVERY time I listen to it.
This is why I get defensive everytime people straight out say ALL of Anticon is whack...because if you read the Lyrics or listen to the song and know what the deal is? You may understand why something Anticon puts out can mean so much to me and maybe you.

I likes me some Legends and I also likes me some Anticon. I love the Deep Puddle Dynamics album and I think Sole is dope. Learning to Walk is some real straight-forward hip hop for those who don't think Sole can flip some traditional shit. Dose One is a fuckin' weirdo and I like his shit to an extent...I've heard Hemispheres and it's a really chill, laid back album but nothing amazing. I dont' know if i could put up with listening to a whole cd by him (He kills it on "Drawbridge" of Aes Rock's Float though). From what i've heard of Alias, he's alright but nothing spectacular. I need to hear more Restiform Bodies 'cause all i've heard is a song called "Weather Balloon" and it was pretty good. And the rest of Anticon, i've never heard. I own an Anticon sweater and only emo-kids give me props for it.

...now let the "I-Beef" continue...

anticon is the type of group you love and hate at the same time... and then as u think u like them more you actually are starting to hate them more... does that make sense....and yeh no one should care bout ya defination of what real hiphop is and is not.... theres room for experimenting.... some might think that anticon is soft cuz they mc's do seem whiney soft crap sometimes ... well a lot...but then agian i think they production is usually better than the legends... so yeh i love they beats and hate they mcs or is it the other way around....depends on which song u play .... haha either way it doesnt really matter ......bump whatever u like....

I think it's dead... I went to the Def Jux show in SF spring of 02 and a bunch of the Anticon dudes were there... actin goofy too.

I used to be into Anticon but... all that shit just begins to sound the same after a while. Get three of their better albums and you're good to go. I like my hip hop a tad more subtle and head-noddish... that being said, I don't think they deserve to get hated on as much as they do. If it ain't for you, just leave em alone and let em do their thing. It's not like they're on the radio or MTV 24/7... why hate on folks that obscure?
