Why do artists who are touring pass by San Diego? I mentioned P.O.S. just did this, but it is too often. They hit up L.A. and maybe even Orange County, and they go straight to Arizona. I'm cool with the drive to L.A. for certain shows (next weekend double whammy with MED, Wildchild, Percee P, Blame One on Saturday in Ventura and Sunday Blu & Exile in Long Beach...seen Mystik about a thousand times but they play Sunday also). But this ish has been happening since I moved to SD in 2001. Either the artist thinks that SD doesn't show up so there's no profit, or SD DOESN'T SHOW UP?? How many shows in SD, does the artist say "Damn, San Diego might be louder than the show last night in L.A"...like they thought we weren't going to show the love?? Speak on it so this ish can come to an end.

the answer is something to do with demographics. it's nothing personal.
the population is spread thin over a large residential area.
the age groups vary and we have a high concentration of retired people and family types.

I would say its 50/50 some artists are always in SD and others never come out.
I think a lot of it has to do with venues and promoters..some artists cant get the good venues in SD cause they dont have that kind of pull and some dont come out cause no one is coming out to check em out. Plus where are all the promoters that should be booking these artists? They arnt here. There are only a few that are doing it on the underground tip. I wouldnt go see POS myself I dont think they would have a good turn out here..but then again I could be wrong.
I was Djing for Urban Underground this past year and they had acts in SD every thursday some nights were big some were slow. Nature of the game I guess
I think this was all of them..pretty good shows it was definitly great to see so many acts and get paid for it
