Zion I is releasing their 5th album this month and 9th album if you count the early EP's. ChaddyP.com has been anticipating this album since Zion I's hasn't dropped an album since 2006. The last project "Heroes in the City of Dope (with The Grouch)" from 2006 was the last release and it was one of the best albums that year! We are very happy with the album, but there was an inconsistent flow throughout the album. It seemed to jump around, more than they have in the past, from hyphy to original raw music. We thought the album was too short (48 minutes for 15 songs and 1 is the intro and 1 is an Amp Live instrumental.) With that being said, DJ/Producer AmpLive and MC Zumbi are still making the 808 and politcal lyrics that make you nod your head and feel good. The Bay Baby!

Dope album. There are a few headache beats on it but the standout tracks more than make up for it. The song with Ali is nasty.

Brother Ali comes through on that verse for sure...The Devin the Dude song has to be the worse song by far. Zumbi sounds like a 12 year old Lil Wayne?? Like you said there are too many standout tracks and anyone that likes bass, this CD is ridiculous.

Hmmmm. Just got this one in the mail, and I must say I'm not feeling it. I own every studio album by these guys, so I bought it blind because they never disappoint...until now. I won't say it's wack or bad because I've only bumped it twice so far, but it's different from all their stuff. Most of all, it's heavy on the experimental side, and there is a big amount of crossover appeal. Lots of unorthodox production. Amp Live still mixes a nice track, but I'm not really feeling his sample choices. And after almost two spins, no single track is really grabbing me. The Brother Ali spot was par for the course, and Devin's was pretty good - though I didn't care for the song much. There seemed to be some forced choruses/hooks here too. They just weren't grabbing me.

You're not alone Al. Album is nothing what I expected. I hinted at what you are talking about, but I've listened to it enough to find some value. If this was the introduction of Zion I, I'd never support them again. Track 3 & 5 are the best in my opinion.

i have mixed feelings about it. the album does definitely jump around a lot but the production is phenominal. a lot of it sounded too electronic for my tastes at first but as i listened to it more it just grabbed me and hit me upside the head with the dopeness. its a very good album and there are some important words of wisdom on there too.

I Know what you guy's are saying....but man I gotta be honest I am feelin it!
It's funny too how album artwork can give you a bit of preception of how an album is going to be...or throw you off. (dope album cover)

amp killed it. wasnt feeling it at first but the more i listen the more i like it. overall its a pretty dope album. if youre expecting straight up hip hop youre gonna be disappointed. its pretty diverse. thats what i like about these cats anyway.

LOL - I don't know diggingdeep. You may like this. I listened to it again, and it is a good album, but I still am not feeling the direction they are taking it. I'm all for experimentation and a wealth of diverse material, which this album definitely has. Still, gotta be honest about the fact I ain't feeling it that much....even after listen #3.
