Does nobody know about these guys? Some of the dopest shit I've ever heard. I just found out about them a few weeks ago from my buddy but this album is really quickly becoming one of my favorites. They mix jazz, blues, hip hop and reggae. Shit is bomb.

Oh yeah. These guys are from St. Paul, MN. I've seen them live a good 4-5 times. Loved 'em since the day I heard 'em. I got both of their CDs. "Tiger Dancing" is their best that I know of. "Small Steps" is alright, but the production isn't as good. I think they released some type of comp or EP last year, but I never checked it out. They achieve their nice big sound with an excellent live band (live, and on the albums).

Wow, I live in this city and had no clue. Usually nothing hip-hop related in Minnesota gets by me, but I do get proved wrong from time to time. lol
Thanks for the info. I will most definitely be buying this. I can only imagine that they've gotten better since their 2004 album.

WOW! Just wow. I've been following this crew for a while now, and this is easily their best work to date - by leaps and bounds. "Small Steps" was 3-3.5 star album, while "A Tiger Dancing" was a good 4 star album. But damn, this one is at least 4.5 stars, and maybe more. They must have either got some new musicians to work on this album, or they made the band a more prominent element of the group. The band on here is phenomenal. This is much closer to the sound they've been reaching for - very Roots-esque. It reminded me a lot of the Roots. In the past their live show had reminded me of The Roots, but their studio LPs were not on that level...and now they are - seriously.
A huge thanks goes out to EagleToVulture for this recommendation. I'm still not sure how it passed me by to begin with. I'll get straight to work spreading the word about this album. I already know a handful of cats that will buy this.
Peace!

Props once again. I've actually listened to all 77 minutes of this album a good 5 times today already. Absolutely loving it, and it's making me question my favorite rap LP of 2008. My top 5 is going to need some revising! lol
