What are everyone's favorite rock bands on here? I knew I've seen a few people namedropping some decent stuff, but we've never had a thread on it.

Some of my favorites...
Explosions In The Sky
Radiohead
Minus the Bear
Fugazi
At The Drive-In
The Clash

I'm into a bunch of punker stuff like Rise Against and Pennywise.

A lot of reggae; Marleys, Rebelution, Groundation, Ooklah the Moc, stuff like that.

classic 90's stuff like
Stone Temple Pilots
and Nirvana...even some old smashing pumpkins. I can get into that stuff.
Rage Against the Machine
Deftones
Radiohead
some of the only recent rock, indie alternative stuff i listen to is, early yeahyeahyeahs and Modest Mouse stuff, Fog and Why? I'll admit though that i don't know a whole lot of indie rock but I'd be open to listening to a lot of it...if the right stuff comes my way that is...its hard to filter out some of the stuff that just keeps sounding the same to me...sometimes it can be too hard to keep up with more than one genre...but i do listen, rate and review a lot of stuff i don't own...so, its always fun to discover new stuff.

Elliott Smith
Arcade Fire
(Smog)
Jolie Holland
Built to Spill
No Age
My Bloody Valentine
Bright Eyes
Bonnie "Prince" Billy

From about 1990 to 2003 I only enjoyed listening to Hip Hop, but over the past 5 years I have started to like some more obscure rock like elements. Often I think rock bands sound the same, so I find it difficult finding different styles. Hip Hop is still rather new so it does not have as much recycled BS yet. "Yet" is key.

rock? yes! They are classified as Rock when they are displayed in stores. They are a band with a singer, they may have used turntables and drum machines at times but I can name a bunch of other bands that have done the same and I dont think anyone would not label them as rock. What would you label them as?

My fiance's cousin grew up in Maui. When we visited him he was talking about how reggae is insanely popular out there; reggae and independent hip-hop. He was asking us what rock bands we liked because he didn't know as many people that dug rock. I was more interested in what reggae he was listening to because it was really groovy. Would you please give some more recommendations and maybe some links James?
