Well I've been listening to hiero and BBC lately.
They are both indies and both been around for a long time.
How would you compare them?

pretty good comparison. bbc is more grimy gangster east coast but they are both big underground groups. enta da stage come out the same year as 93 til, and both have jazzy beats. they are both great crews...but i can relate to hiero more being from the east bay. i do really enjoy listening to smif-n-wessun dah shinin' on a regular basis.

I've always thought this. Even asked Del in that thread awhile back:
1) I've always felt like the best Hip Hop music comes out of collectives, for example Hiero, BCC, Wu Tang, D.I.T.C. and LL (all listed in a very particular order). I've always considered Hiero and BCC in the top two; BCC has always been like an East coast Hiero, even though I'd be a fan if Hiero never existed. Any thoughts on the similarities or on the BCC in general?
ok here we go...
1) i personally think there's a bit of similarity in styles between Oakland and Brooklyn. when i first came out dudes from NYC thought i was from Brooklyn. Buckshot is actually one of the first cats i met in NY. I also met Steele out here in the Bay and they were with Too Poetic before he died (from Gravediggaz).
i dunno, really like-minded people could be found all over the planet so it's not that surprising to me.
peace
