but yo im working on an album with my dude. and I'm doing all the production on it he doing the rhymes and for one of my beats i have a Del sample on it.

how could i go about getting the OK from hiero?

or a hiero rep.(this is not trying to promo that why i don't state the name of the project just don't want to get sued or rappers mad at me)

fuck it - keep it in and post it up for free for the exposure.:rolleyes: i wouldnt really worry about getting sued for using it if you dont make money off that track. usually someone only cares if you sell more than them and are bringing in the dough. if your underground and just starting out...what is there for them to go after you for? shit, the shirt you're wearing? i wouldn't stress it. shit, i am friends with the guys in avenged sevenfold and they were stoked when i showed them the sample mr. dibbs uses from them. on that note, they vaguely remember kicking it with dibbs way back in the day during some warp tour shows...and remember him asking them about it... but there was "no official contract" to their knowledge. it was also before they were on a major label thou.

what i would do is post it for free or have it as a hidden "bonus track"... or as just a free single. then they cant claim you are making money off it.... and worse case senerio would be you mioght get a cease & desist letter from their suits (lawyers or record company fellas) telling you to stop. then i would stop. usually if after all that, and you are still making a buck off it, then will they come after you for your clothes.;)

but the best advice would be to hit him up at a show. my thoughts on this... usually other musicians are chill with you using/ sampling their shit. means that others are digging what they are doing.... but if you hit up the "suits" their more in the business for the money (not the music) so they may have larger issues with it than the actual artist.

in the end, it's more of a per case on how it all works out. it could go many different ways. good luck.

my bad got carried away. but yeah in a way thats kinda wack but eh like casual says "thats how it was and thats how it is" (he sampled that lol) kinda sucks for a com up artist but i could understand it. i really am still on the edge one what i can do.

what are you listening to these days? i still hear samples used all the time. i never noticed it die off? have you listen to the legends? they still sample shit daily. on sunspots recents sunspot albums he has sampled fleetwood mac, the lead song from the movie flash dance. on the new murs there is a jackson 5 sample. 2mex is also full of sample. the gloria is a kroqer album is all samples such as weezer. also on 2mex's tour cd he's got kayne beat sampled. the list is endless and continues to grow everyday in my opnion.

i have his e-mail but i think it might be his person E-mail (he sent me sommin through E-mail when he use to go on AIM) so i really don't wanna disrespect and blow up his shit i dont want to disrespect. i just wanted to know if he got a business mail i can reach em at. that's why i emailed that person because i thought it was an Business joint.
