20 year old hieroglyphics fan was shot and killed in golden gate park after a show of some sort. He was said to have been wearing a Hiero 3eye sweatshirt at the time of his shooting. It was on the news this morning and talked about the Hiero logo.

"The sweatshirt featured the logo of popular Oakland hip-hop group called the Hieroglyphics, a collective that promotes awareness and peace in its music. It's a message that Brandon's family and friends say represented Brandon's own motto in life."

I think the news report got it right though the hiero symbol does represent oakland hip hop aswell as peace & awareness through hip hop music and has become an international sign that all hiero fans know and almost live by. just thought id share this article. R.I.P. brandon...

Brandon had moved recently from SD to SF - he was a long-time Access local customer, a familiar face at the store. Very sad.

Condolences to all family and friends - Rest In Peace.

From Tajai:

After seeing the reports of the heinous crime perpetrated upon
Brandon Lee Evans, one of our loyal fans, in our hometown, our entire
collective is filled with sadness and anger. We in Hieroglyphics have
always tried to position ourselves as an alternative to the rampant
ignorance and violence that plague our home area. We have always
attempted to espouse the values of peace, creativity and social
justice instilled in us by our parents and elders who have struggled
to keep us safe, healthy and aware in an often hostile environment.
Our fans are some of the most loving individuals on this planet, and
they often let us know how our music inspires them to uphold these
same values. We consider them all family, so losing one to senseless
violence is extremely distressing. We are appalled that we live in a
time and place where anyone can be taken from his family and friends
in the prime of his youth.
This incident may be indicative of the lack of opportunities,
both educational and professional in these modern times. However, the
most glaring ill in this situation is the utter lack of respect for
life that the coward who perpetrated this crime exhibited. We
challenge this murderer to come forward and face the consequences of
his or her actions. Our condolences go out to Brandon's family and
also to our entire extended family of friends and fans whose love has
buoyed us over the last 17 years.

This is very tragic and sad, I felt like crying when Silas started breaking down on the TV news item, what coward did this?, how can they live with themselves? senseless violence has torn a family apart and left them and friends searching for answers.

I hope something really awful happens to the person that did this.

First, I must Thank Hieroglyphics for being there for my family and showing real love and support for us and my son, Brandon. I can't begin to tell you how much you all have touched my heart and lifted me with strength to continue my constant fight for Brandon.

To everyone who has been there for us....friends, family and co-workers! You know who you are...we are so lucky and we are loved! Thank you for all you have done! My son, has the greatest people in his life and he touched so many people in his short life! If you knew Brandon, you know, you were blessed....if you did not, just knowing of him hopefully, will make you a better person.

It has been the hardest thing for me to face that my son is gone! My son and I had a bond that was just so unbelieveable! I'm thankful, I can say that...many people do not have that and I was so lucky that my son & I did!
Anyone who knows Brandon knows that he was kind and gentle and loved everyone and always tried to make everyone fit in! He did not deserve this and it is so hard to believe this is how my son left this world. I can tell you this....I am on this case every day and I hopefully, real soon will have good news! I can't wait 'til the day....I can tell everyone the coward who did this is now in jail for the rest of their life! I can't share what is going on because I can't hurt the case. But, I promise....I will let everyone know!

Just know, live life to your fullest and do the things you want now and don't put things off! Create your dreams and remember, you only have one life and you can help change this world. Brandon was all about a better world and that is what I intend to do. Keep living life by creating a better one! I will get thru this by doing something that makes changes, helping people and continue being an advocate to stop the violence. I know it will always be here...but, if I can change one person at a time and make a difference in their life....It will continue to help Brandon live thru me! My kids are my world and my world is my kids!

Thank you for letting me speak here! Remember, words can make changes, too! Your support is appreciated and Much love to everyone who supports the Hieroglyphics...! Show them your love by buying their music and supporting their shows and continue to support them because my Dad use to say, you know who your friends and family are when someone dies. I never knew what that meant but, I can tell you....they are true and as real as can be!

Much love....!

The news I was hoping to hear with some of the work I have done, did not come through to be positive to finding the killer(s). Now, the San Francisco Police Department has offered a $25,000. Reward for the conviction of the person who murdered my son Brandon Lee Evans. I am soon going back to SF to pound the streets and pass out flyers and post flyers in regards to my reward of $10,000. (in which, I am still in the process of collecting), through friends, family, co-workers & many caring citizens. And now, with SF Police offering their Reward of $25,000...I now have hope again, that someone may talk to collect these rewards.

If anyone in Oakland, would like to help post a few flyers out there, please let me know...I will get flyers to you. Or, go to www.justiceforbrandon.com & download flyers from there and just change the amount to $35,000. I can't stop fighting for my son and now I have to 100% rely on the citizens in the city to help me...continue my fight to find and prosecute who did this to my son. With that said, if anyone has any thoughts or ideas, please let me know.

Much Love,
Christine Evans
