I just wanted to bring up something that has always been really annoying to me. I always hear these kids who only listen to rock music say "Rap is gay, it's pointless". I'm pretty sure they're just generalizing the genre based on what they hear on the radio. It'll probably never go away but something has to be done to shut these ignorant ass fools.

I used to listen to a lot of Japanese rock (still do, just not as much) so I made a comment on how I didn't like the new album; Nothing harsh. Then I get blasted by "OMG how could you say that?!" and "You don't know anything, you listen to rap, how dare you call this album simple and generic. That's so ironic based on what you listen to". Of course all this failure comes from lastfm. I told them that they were not expressing themselves properly because all they said to me was "fuck off" and "you don't know shit" and they responded with "I'm sure Del tha Funkee Homosapien produces a very complex way to express himself " and "Sorry for not being as deep as ice cube". (I'm sure they have no idea who del is)

Anyone else hate stupid ass motherfuckers like that? I don't really see it going the other way around...hip hop heads hating on rock.

I listen to alot more styles of music than just hip-hop. I think it is kinda closed minded to limit yourself to just one style of music. I love rock, punk, alternative, metal, oldies, some classical, jazz, even Johnny Cash, and Frank Sinatra. Variety is the spice of life my friends. Don't limit yourself and label yourself. Be YOU and not who you THINK you should be, or who your friends, family, or even strangers for that matter want or EXPECT you to be. You don't owe anyone an explanation for what syle of music you like, or what think is "good" music. If people have a problem with it, shrug it off. THEY are the ones that are closed minded. Don't even give them the gratification of letting them know you are upset about how they feel about you and your interests. Bottom line: BE YOURSELF.

You're right. Just frustrating at times. But, you pretty much said it all. Thanks. :)

that IS some bullshit though... i've never hated on an entire genre based on the little i've heard of it, i'll tell you it's not my thing but i won't criticize it or you for listening to it. a lot of non-heads seem to enjoy shitting on hiphop like it gives them some kind of satisfaction to let you know that you and your taste in music are below them somehow. assholes. but yeah, there's seriously no point in fighting it, some people are just ignorant.
