NEW RELEASES:
AstroCircus - Bricklayers Masquerade CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=16321
Cosmic and Zilla of Jedi Knights Circle out of NorCal combine to form
the Astro Circus! Having known each other since their juvenile days,
the duo never quite got it together enough, through college and
careers outside of underground hip hop, to release an entire project
until now. Cosmic comes clean with some of that stripped down,
smoothed out Bay Area knock, the kind heard most recently on his
production work with fellow JKC member Optimus Rhymes (who also shows
up for a few guest spots) as well as jumping back on the mic himself
alongside Zilla. JKC is back in 2008 and a full group EP is also
scheduled before the end of the year!
Common Market - Tobacco Road CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=16123
RA Scion and DJ Sabzi (of Blue Scholars) follow up their Black Patch
EP and their previous self titled release with Tobacco Road! The
Seattle, Washington duo carries on the politically charged themes and
content of Sabzi's group Blue Scholars hail from the same region. The
two had run into a set back while recording and the album was
delayed for over year. RA Scion's lyrics reflect upon his musical
influences in relation to his worldly travels, as well as spiritual,
his conscious approach to hip hop caught the ear of KRS-One who later
took the two on tour with him in 2005. Tobacco road is yet another
unique offering from the Pacific Northwest, marking the region as
unclassifiable but easily recognizable as true-blue hip hop all the
way. Again, it is produced entirely by Sabzi, very jazzy and organic
but also different from his work Geologic, who also makes a special
guest appearance on the album!
The Grouch - Artsy 12"
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=15799
Finally! A proper single release off of The Grouch's Show You The
World! And only a week after we received the EP which selects nine
tracks from the album for the vinyl. By picking this up you'll almost
be able to complete the album as it comes with not only "Artsy" and
the remix by edIT, but also "Bay To LA" featuring Murs! Comes with
the instrumentals and even an accapella for the title track!
Mint Rock (Bored Stiff) - Magnified CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=15255
Bored Stiff member and San Fran's very Mint Rock was raised in the
diverse Filmore District of the city, exposing him at an early age to
various artforms from the cultured area. As early as 1990 he and
childhood friends formed the group Top Notch and would later hook up
with Shade's of Rhythm with Equipto to merge into The Hoodies...which
later evolved into the now internationally known Bored Stiff. The
rest is history, and through the years members of the group have
contributed timeless classics and helped solidify the Bay Area's
place in hip hop. Magnified is the emcee's second solo album and
features the usual guests including Equipto, Mike Marshall, Andre
Nickatina and more!
Chuck Dimes - Keep The Change CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=16322
Chuck Dimes is the smiling face among the mean-mugging thugs. In an
era where every rapper wants to sell drugs, kill someone or make the
next bubble-gummy disposable dance song, Chuck Dimes is a breath of
fresh air – and fresh rhymes. The Fresno emcee has browsed all genres
in hip hop, but it's the fed up feeling we all have with where
mainstream music is right now that has him up in arms and striving to
make real music about real life, and rap is his platform for getting
his message across. But he doesn't dumb it down while staying
positive, nor is it squeaky clean, as there is a wide range of
content and production value here, but the real focus are his obvious
mic skills, which can come across cockey and sarcastic, there's
definitely a sense of humor about his stories, but further listening
assures you, Chuck Dimes is speaking the truth about all types of
everyday stuff that most people can't write one sentence about.
