This is what I've decided, I'm curious if other heads agree.
'Lib has been around for a while, has a free flowing jazzy style and also has stupid amounts of classics under his belt. Pete rock is more notably famous in the history(and grand scheme) of things, but i think they're quite similar in the position they hold in their coasts "rap game"(ha ha).

No, Madlib is the west coast Madlib...

word up. upon listening to madlib, i can think of nothing more than how amazing the man's production is. "The antidote" is timeless!

Nah, not at all. Just because Madlib has longevity, I wouldn't really say he's like Pete Rock at all. Damn, not at all really.

Madlib is way more experimental and diverse I think.
Pete Rock mostly makes that boom-bap type of Hip-Hop.
Thats probably why he is better known,(the era he got famous)..
Madlib is more indie,& Less known..
Still in my top 5 Producers

I respect everyones opinion, but after listening to Beat Konducta 5 for the last 10 days, I can't believe how dope Madlibs collective style is. His ear and his chops(and his crates for that matter) are ridiculous. Given P.R. doesnt do that experimental shit and all the "less hip hop" side projects that Madlib does, i just feel like Madlib is like PR in the sense that in his scene or sector:bow: of the country(however you wanna look at it), he's THAT dude and nobody's touching him.

Madlib is dope, but he's made plenty of biscuits and weird free form ish. West Pete... think not... I'd look at him more as a Diamond D than a Pete Rock.
