picked this up a few months ago...the cd with grooverider has all the classic jungle hits from the nineties. you need to get this if you like jungle.

my neighbors in my old building who shared a living room wall with us (actually, they only had a studio so it was their living/bedroom wall:naughty:) would play non-stop house music.. damn that music is annoying

Its funny because the stuff I have heard is probably the really good stuff too. Mark Farina for instance. I really like his Mushroom Jazz stuff. Its like hip hop mixed by a house DJ and it works. So I checked out some of his other stuff, the more house type shit and am not impressed at all. House music isnt horrible, its just boring and why anyone would want to listen to it for an extended period of time is beyond me. But then again I dont do drugs so...

that's funny you say that cuz essentially that's the reason I started listening to it...unintentionally, of course. but eventually house just kinda jumped out at me after I realized most of the other shit was drug-specific music.

but yeah, the farina stuff is cool. but some of his house production is not my favorite.
lately house is turning out some really sample-heavy stuff with some hip hop nuances which I'm really diggin.

seriously? i've met plenty of straight dudes that dig house music (especially over seas). there's a lot of crappy house but try listening to the funky artists like osunlade, nick holder and moshic. this is all comin from a guy who's currently listening to bobby womack.

i don't do drugs anymore and love teh pu$$y.. i been fuckin' with house.. so has dr. dre, the d.o.c., twinhype, kc flight, the jungle bros, atcq, and pretty much most of the other native tongues.. i go to parties where there are lots of good lookin girls dancing and have a good time.. favorite house djs is prolly derrick carter, masters at work.. garth, jeno, and simon were pretty dope on the sf scene back in the day, too.. black science orchestra and blaze have put out some incredible records throughout the years. it's all just dance music anyways.. think what you will, but the whole turntable/dj cultural phenomenon would be nowhere near where it is now w/out the disco movement of the 70's.
