NEW RELEASES:
Little Brother - Getback CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=12917
Commonly called the LB's, Little Brother have released two classic
and critically acclaimed albums, The Listening in 2002, and The
Minstrel Show in 2005. During their tenure, Little Brother has drawn
comparisons to some of hip hop's most venerable groups like A Tribe
Called Quest, De La Soul, Outkast and EPMD. This highly anticipated
album has North Carolina's finest giving fans of all ages and all
walks of life, new school and old school heads alike, a reason to
once again "Get Back" to being true fans of hip hop! Featuring
appearances by Jozeemo, Darien Brockington, Lil Wayne and more!
Sole & the Skyrider Band - Sole & the Skyrider Band CD/ 2LP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=13927
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=14132
In the past, Sole had primarily worked with producers on his Anticon
label such as Alias, Jel, Odd Nosdam and Telephone Jim Jesus for his
solo albums, but as he searched the world for new meaning in life,
new motivation to continue making music, it was a simple twist of
fate that would land him back in the States after a brief stay
overseas. Along the way he met Bud Berning, a dub drummer and
electronic composer recording music under the name Skyrider.
Intrigued by his sound while on a short tour in the U.S., Sole later
returned to work with Berning and two newly recruited members, John
Wagner, a drummer from Tennessee and multi-talented instrumentalist
William Ryan Fritch. Accepting Sole's offer, the band re-located and
got to work. Almost instantly they began rigorously recording what
would be an entire album, as Sole scrapped ten songs already finished
and originally prepared for his next planned release. The voice is
familiar, but the sound is all new! This is a return for Sole after
Live From Rome was met with mixed reactions, and in a major way this
is also a return for Anticon, as Sole is one of their flagship
artists. The embattled emcee takes on corporate America, criticism,
imperialism and his own inner demons as they toil with
dissatisfaction.
Hangar 18 - Sweep the Leg CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=14078
Finally filling the three year gap since their first full length The
Multi Platinum Debut, emcees Alaska, Wind N Breeze, and producer paWL
return as Hangar 18 for one of the funniest titles for an album I've
heard in a long time. Sweep the Leg, with the Cobra Kai logo on the
cover from the most beloved American saga's in 80's cinema, the
Karate Kid. Considered to be the least dark in content in the Def Jux
roster, Hangar 18 has always boasted an old school sound with party
jams to boot! With quotable choruses and incredibly fast wordplay,
the team follows the same formula that made their first album a
critically acclaimed hit. In my opinion it is one hell of a follow
up! It's License to Ill meets the 21st Century!
Hell Razah & BSBD - Razah's Ladder CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=14170
Kingston and Young God return as the producing duo Blue Sky Black
Death after their highly acclaimed double album A Heap of Broken
Images on Mush Records, and following their successful collab pairing
up last year with Wu-Tang's only West Coast affiliate, Holocaust.
Fresh off the praise from his most recent release, Renaissance Child,
Sunz of Man member Hell Razah hits us with a petrifying combination
of gritty streetwise tales and spiritualism over some very distinct
production... will somebody in the Wu hierarchy just give these guys
an in-house job already? Features appearances by Shabazz the
Disciple, Ill Bill, Prodigal Sun, Crooked I and Sabac Red.
Smif-N-Wessun - The Album CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=13840
Finally allowed to use their Smif-N-Wessun name for the first time
since Dah Shinin' Tek N Steele return after Reloaded for their fourth
full-length release simply titled The Album! After the recent
emergence of the Boot Camp Clik following the success of their last
project, The Last Stand, fans have been embracing solo efforts by
Buckshot and Sean Price and the recently released Casualties of War.
Produced by Ken BB and Tommy Tee and featuring appearances by Rock of
Heltah Skeltah, Million Styles and more!
