I saw him live once a few years ago opening for Sage Francis...he started talking about Missy Elliot and all the weight she lost...it was laffs. His new album is just ok imo. But I do like him...I think also on tour with atmosphere he's playing to their audience...but I don't think he's anywhere near as annoying as Linkin Park or Gym Class Heroes type high school boppers...fucking mo's.

When I saw him last week, he spent the majority of his set talking about how gay and lame mainstream rap music is. I mean, literally just standing up there talking... and then he plays songs about getting his third DUI (how cool!) and about how much he hates Furgie.
Just seemed like he was really trying to play towards a highschool crowd. And his brother that he brought out on stage with him to be his hype man? Who the fuck is that herb?

I've heard the tracks from 11:11 and they're crap compared to his older shit, The Nine Situations.

I thought the new Hangar 18 was alright...nothing spectacular, just about what I expected...I think alaska is still sick though...it just had the same formula as the first album thats all.
back to mac...i still like him, i don't love this album and i do like his older stuff better but this new album is a miss...and maybe his next album will be better.

Did he bring out that retarded brother of his? That tall, skinny, shaggy haired white guy wearing a bandana? Such a tool.

i remember reading an interview with him last year and he said he made a bunch of songs for 11:11 and rhymesayers told him it was too dark and serious, made him go back and make "fun/upbeat" songs or something. wtf. sounds like he intended to go the same path he was already on (his previous work is dope) but rhymesayers made him switch it up. pretty messed up when the independent labels start doing the same shit as the majors. i lost a lot of respect for the label when i read that, and a lot more now that i've heard 3 tracks off 11:11 all of which are trash. i'd love to know who's making these decisions. slug's name seems to be executive producer on a lot of rhymesayers shit, wouldn't be surprised if it's him. his stuff has been taking the same direction for a while now too.

He actually doesnt belong on that list. That list consisted of mostly good rappers that you dont like becuase you have shitty taste in music.
You can make a new list and include Mac Lethal on that new list.

so by mostly do you mean more than half? that means you consider either xzibit, bavgate, keak da sneak, or E40 to be a good rapper... or maybe even all of the above

e40 is not just "good", he's very good.
He's not my personal favorite or anything, but you cant really deny that he's a good rapper and has a respectable catalogue of music.
And Xzibit's first album is dope.

E40 is terrible. i'm pretty sure the majority of people that live outside the gay bay feel the same way. deal with it. and xzibit is such a good rapper that now he fixes up beater cars on mtv instead of producing hits.

Grayskul are still really bad live performers. The last time I saw them was almost two years ago, but it seemed like they actually became worse over time.

Pent-up emotional angst exploded all over the recording. But when he sent it to Rhymesayers, Siddiq wanted Mac to keep honing it. The record was unbalanced, a little too heavy on the suffering. Too much pain doesn't make for a well-rounded MC.
"If anybody was to label Rhymesayers as something, it would probably be emotional and heavy music — that's kind of our bread and butter. It's always been our thing," Siddiq tells the Pitch from his office in Minneapolis. Still, Siddiq has helped Mac bring out all sides of his personality, putting equal emphasis on the hurt and the humor.
"When he sent me back to the lab," Mac says, "it was more or less to create a better balance. I've definitely added some songs to dilute it, I guess, to not make it so fucking hard to swallow."
The label would have put him in a professional studio, but Mac wanted the entire album to maintain the sound of the original demo. So Rhymesayers paid him $5,000 (straight to the mortgage) and told him to keep working and think about how he wanted to present himself to the world.
told you so

yes the article is old but that's the point. rhymesayers kept sending him back to redo shit, hence delay after delay for this lp's release.

I was reading PSC's blog yesterday about the tour and I read that Mac Lethal had Strep throat at that venue and that he went off about mainstreme shit pretty much only at that show which psc found hillarious...as if he was doing it to be funny and fuck with the crowed up in that morman state.
Though I am sure it's how he feels anyways. But thats how I read it...

I used to constantly talk bad about my roommates former girlfriend, but at the same time I kinda wanted to nail her.
