lil wayne is the perfect example how the south has changed the grading curve of lyricism. i know some cats who rhyme/produce on some real hiphop shit and say that lil wayne is "tight." im like, you are only saying that because everyone else on the radio is doing single syllable rhymes and his are sometimes multi syllable joints. so the FUCK WHAT?? he still aint saying shit! cats are just accustomed to wackness and he falls on the "less wack" end of the scale as far as mcs on the radio. keep in mind i am coming out of the south where there is NO substance on the radio.

i agree that he sometimes has a clever punch or 2 which is 1 or 2 more then most cats on the radio down hurrrr.. i dont "hate" wayne but i generally like cats who have a positive message at least 51% of the time.

true, but im thinkin of mc's like Jay-Z, Kanye, Andre 3000, Common (depending on where youre at)... Lil wayne falls into that group of dudes gettin regular airplay.

lil wayne is either hit or miss for me. he's puttin out all these carter albums and mixtapes here and there and has a guest appearance on everyones shit, my thought are that if he consolodated his shit and was a little more selective about what he threw out to the masses, he could really impress more people. i think the doot does have talent but sometimes he's a little careless and releases joints that should just stay in the vaults.

side note: one of the things i like most about lil wayne is, on his mixtapes, he doesnt just rap over someone else's beats. he takes their whole rhyme style & delivery and copies that too.
