Nice find. I hope it's before May. May 25 is my birthday so that would be a pretty damn nice gift.

i saw him perform in july. towards the end of the show he stopped and played instrumental snippets from the new album (they were all dope as hell). he must have played at least 10, plus he performed a couple of new songs in full.
i really don't know what the hold up with the release date is, seems like it's been ready for a while now. we all know it's been pushed back 101 times already but does anyone have a REASON? i mean come on. this is ridiculous.

The album was finished over the summer, album artwork and everything. The only thing left was putting it out the right way. They recently decided to go with Def Jux and it's kinda too late to sell in 4Q this late so the better thing to do is to release it in the spring Del said. I can understand why they are going with Def Jux for the release because they know how to market indie shit right, they had Aesop Rock artist of the week on MTV and he had a show and commercials on and shit, real tight. With Def Jux Aesop and Murs are hella growing and hopefully Def Jux helps Del and gets more people's attention on one of the best emcees out there.

Screw that, this should come out on Hiero Imperium, help solidify the label even more than it already is as this is easily their most anticipated release and will undoubtedly sell.

It is being released through Def Jux for promotional reasons. It is a smart move on Del's part considering Hiero Imperium doesn't have the best promotion. It's not like it's going to change the content, or have a whole Del album produced by El-P.

Hiero Imperium is the back up label and just so you know, in every way, releasing the album on Def Jux will help Hiero Imperium a lot more than releasing it on Hiero Imperium themselves.
Def Jux is miles better and more established at marketing, promoting, and putting albums out. This will get Del hella more fans and main stream people will hear it for their first time and look him up and ending up supporting Hiero Imperium.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me 1,000 times, I'll believe it when I see it. Does anyone have any confidence that we will see 11th hour released next year? My crystal ball sees 2010 more likely.

It WILL be coming out in early 2008.
i've been listening to del and hiero since IWMBGWH was a new release, and i need to weigh in on this bullshit. for fucks sake, this album has taken too long. i wouldn't normally feel like del has an obligation to us fans to release an album, but he's been talking about it for YEARS. not to mention the Achilles Heel internet only release he talked about in interviews about 6 years ago, what ever happened to that shit? his myspace tracks scare me, they are some of the wackest beats i've ever heard. now maybe he puts his reject beats on his mysace page, but they are not helping him.
another problem with releasing albums so far apart is you lose fans. i'll be the 1st to admit i'm not a normal fan. i'm 30 years old and i still check the hiero site every few weeks, can't say that about my friends who USED to listen to del. so maybe thats part of the reason for the def jux release, they'll be able to get the word out to a younger audience better than hiero. thats good news for del, and bad news for the loyal fans.
he's also made so many different claims about the sound of the new album over the years, who knows what it's going to be like. but i can tell you, i have my doubts... especially after watching the 11th hour dvd... I know del's always been a little odd, but that shit was on another level, dudes like mildly retarded. homeboy obviously needs someone to hold his hand in order to release an album. for example, the sd50s only got involved with NNFA because del turned in a sub-par album which they had to fix. del needs to write and spit rhymes, leave the other shit to the pros.
peace.

the title says it all. I would luv to get Del's album asap. But quess what. It ain't happening. So buck up and be glad we have someone like Del to be so hyped/bummed on of HIS release of HIS album. I really doubt any would stop supporting him over a release date. If so.. then you aren't really down.

It's not that someone would get pissed and say "i'm not buying it when it comes out because it was pushed back"... it's that people will lose interest and/or forget. By the time it comes out it will be 8 years since his last release. Thats the amount of time it takes someone to go through all of high school and all of college. When I graduated college, I sure as shit wasn't listening to all the same music as I was in the 9th grade.

Yeah the hiero crew talked a good game but after full circle they have been nowhere to be found. I think that the dream is over. I have to way in on this, see I along with everyone else has been waiting like 6 years or some shit for this album to be released. Every six months or so you'd hear something like oh next year first quarter, and then it would get pushed back. Now I understand that this is independent and Del like's perfection, the several year delay was almost understandable. But it really pisses me off that now that the album is finished he is pushing it back to make more money!! He owes this album to us, I have bought every album of his, paid good money to see him live, and have basically supported him this whole time. I'm downloading this one fuck this shit, I work hard for my money. Del if you are reading this fuck you man, you have disrespected many long time supporting fans, the fans are what make you, with out us you are just another dude rhyming.

LOOKS LIKE SOMEONES GOT A CASE OF THE 'MONDAYS'!
C'mon man. There is no need to go there. Del is a cool cat, it's his album, he can choose to do whatever he wants with it. I am anxiously awaiting like eveyone else... and I am dissapointed as well. The only thing you can do is turn your attention to other rappers and wait until his album comes out.
Besides, I heard from a friend of a friend who's sisters fiancee has a job really high up in the government, that Del is not going to release the 11th Hour until the year 3030. Ha!

exactly. this might be a weird comparison but i have a feeling this is going to be like what happened with 213. if it came out 10 years earlier it would have been MASSIVE but the shit came out after warren g's career died down, snoop flipped his style up and nate dogg, well, he was still doing his thing here and there i guess. but by the time the 213 album dropped i couldn't care less, despite it being one my most wanted albums all through high school. no matter how dope a dude is if he waits that damn long before coming back there's gonna be a lot of fans that have moved on. in the case of 213, i just don't listen to that type of shit anymore. in the case of del, he's lucky that i'm eagerly awaiting 11th hour STILL and hopefully we'll eventually get to hear it...

the thing about del's newer stuff is i think everyone can listen to it, iwmbgwh was experimental and fresh some might say groundbreaking, nnfa was a straight up hip hop album, future dev was underground and honest, deltron was concept/ story album, bsotb futuristic hard hitting raps and probably flowed the most. prediciton for 11th hour more mature and chilled out ryhmes that take longer to digest as he took more of an academic approach, and therefore a classic not to be forgotton hopefully to get the recognition he deserves.
i dunno about everyone else in her but i dont think del's music is something you just 'grow out of', i think its quite possible that ill be listening to this stuff for the rest of my life. And for this reason ill definatly be getting a proper (non mp3) version of this album for sure!

I don't know dude, I probably agree with your opinion of nnfa and deltron... but iwmbgwh was not groundbreaking... experimental? Everyone was doing the funk sample thing at the time. Yeah, his rhymes were more creative than a lot of the other shit out there, but that album as a whole (videos included) was mainstream and at times corny. Future Development (which I liked) was a drastic departure from what was considered the future of hip hop. That was supposed to drop in what, 95? Wu was huge then, Future Dev sounded nothing like what was selling at all. I'm sure it would have failed worse than nnfa did, even though I would have loved to have it back then. It wasn't underground at all, it was made for the label. He just didn't have the help of cube or stimulated dummies, therefore it felt highly juvenile for a 3rd album. BSOTB was a good effort, imo, but didn't touch nnfa lyrically, and the beats were average at best.
I think Dels legacy is defined by nnfa, which isn't a bad thing, its just hard to live up to. In 93, those lyrics were untouchable, he created a following as soon as the baseline of catch a bad one kicked in, and that was only the 2nd song on the album. nnfa is still my favorite hip hop album of all time, not because I still listen to it everyday, but because I got to experience it at a highly impressionable age (16) and now its carved in stone in my head. I am on my 5th copy of that album (2 tapes, 1 vinyl, 2 cds).
Motherfucker can still rip, no doubt, its just a shame that he hasn't had the backing to put shit out on a reasonable timetable.

I'll have to say that I have a preference for NNFA. Mainly for the rhymes and the attitude. It may sound weird, but I like the 'angry' Del lyrics. NNFA has that attitude that you don't get on his other albums. I wish he would write some more music with that kind of vibe to it with music more along the lines of Full Circle beats. That would be tight.

This is getting ridiculous.
But...
Look at El-P. He went around 5 years without releasing a solo album.
5 years is a LONG time, but look how that worked out.
ISWYD was amazing and easily the best rap album of the year (imo).
Compare Del with El-P.
Although there are many differences, there are a lot of similarities too.
If 5 years can go by and the album is still dope, why not 7?
Or (more likely) why not 8 or 9?
Peace

Look what El-P built, an underground empire basically in that time, def jux is fucking hot right now. Since BSOTB, Del supplied some lyrics, most notably Deltron 3030, and toured the country 4 times doing the SAME songs over and over again. I'm partially pissed because I paid for 3 out of those 4 shows, only to see the same songs performed with no energy whatsoever.
Most disgruntled fans, myself included, think of it as a waste of talent. Think of how much dope shit he could have put out in 8 years! If only Hiero and Del had their shit together. This album should have been released last year, then he could have released another on Def Jux in 08... No doubt the album will be good, but when it releases, the NEWEST track on that album will be at least 2 years old. That is sad.

I agree with you on almost all of those points. Don't forget about Full Circle though cuz (even though that was five years ago) I thought it was dope. Halo is still one of my favorite songs. It is also sad that the single for an album comes out 4 years before the actual album. I disagree with you that Del was bad live. I went to 2 of his shows (including one this summer) and thought that they were great. Lots of energy and enthusiasm, I loved it.

who was the least represented MC on full circle? thats right, Del... he was barely there.
maybe Del was just worn out by the time he got to Boston... but I've seen him live so many times over the years it just felt like the shows were lacking something, his voice sounded lazy, like he was sick of it.
