it's crazy how a song i loved before means so much more after shit happens...it's like a slap in the face telling you to go ahead dwell in your little world. i just wanted to ask what song would all of you say hits close to home?
anyway this is my world at the moment...

The Smiths
that joke isn't funny anymore

Park the car at the side of the road
You should know
Time's tide will smother you
And I will too
When you laugh about people who feel so
Very lonely
Their only desire is to die
Well, I'm afraid
It doesn't make me smile
I wish I could laugh

But that joke isn't funny anymore
It's too close to home
And it's too near the bone
It's too close to home
And it's too near the bone
More than you'll ever know ...

Kick them when they fall down
Kick them when they fall down
You kick them when they fall down
Kick them when they fall down
You kick them when they fall down
Kick them when they fall down
You kick them when they fall down
Kick them when they fall down

It was dark as I drove the point home
And on cold leather seats
Well, it suddenly struck me
I just might die with a smile on my
Face after all

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
And now it's happening in mine

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
And now it's happening in mine

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
And now it's happening in mine

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
And now it's happening in mine
Oh ...

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
Oh ...
And now it's happening in mine
Happening in mine
Happening in mine
Happening in mine
Happening in mine

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
Oh ...
And now, now, now it's happening in mine
(I've seen this happen)
Happening in mine
Oh... now, now

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
Oh ...
And now it's happening in mine
(Happen)
Happening in mine
Oh ...
Happening in mine
Happening in mine
Happening in mine

I've seen this happen in other people's
Lives
Oh ...
And now, now, now it's happening in mine
Happening in mine
Mine, mine
Happening in mine

Blackalicious- Nowhere Fast. Not only is it the beat, but it's about getting your act together, and some of the lyrics take on some eerie personal connotations. "I heard your echo cry"...

MF Grimm's- Life and Death. Characterizing life, coma, and death as three different women. Too personal to get into, but regardless, everybody should be able to feel the power in those lyics.

Prince Paul- You Made Me. The best beat ever made imo. Bit the title for my collection of writing I finshed college with. The meaning of the song and the few words within all are always changing for me, even this week.

KMD- Peachfuzz. Fuck adulthood and all it's wackness... old school brilliance.

40oz for Breakfast as well. More straight forward, but still....

That's a dope song and my favorite DJ Shadow beat. It's kinda sad/funny to me though, because I think it was shortly after they made this song that Gab got diagnosed with diabetes and had to stop drinking anyway. I heard he was tough to beat in timed 40 oz drinking contests... hope dude's health is doing OK.

Just recently dude got sent to the hospital cause his eyes filled up with blood (WTF!) they had to cancel one CO appearance.

I hope he's okay, too.

Sorry to derail your thread, dharna! Carry on.

haha it's all good...
that was just what i felt during school.
I have yet to find a song that sums up my life thus far...although i'm really feeling Fiona Apple...all the songs on Tidal are dope...i'm still growing up... songs keep chaging as more shit goes down in my life.
