You've never heard of a groupie? Or indie music? Those two terms are used throughout ALL styles of music. So unless you just started listening to music last week I'm having a hard time believing that you've never run across these terms being used in a context from which you could extrapolate their meaning.
And backpacker? Well, what's it sound like? Once you've got that down you're halfway to the meaning!
I'm sorry, but I won't answer your questions more straight-on...I just think you should be able to get their meanings out of the context they're used in.
