taking a sarcastic tone is always a good tactic i think...i had to review Drag-On's album when rebirthmag was still up and running

although i don't know if i could seriously sit down and listen to a techno cd....but hey i sat through a lot of bullsh*t that i had to review..it's allabout just sitting down and trying your best to analyze it...just think of it as a personal favor to the listener, you're doing the investigative work for them...if it sucks, let them know, but try to be as objective as possible....say, yeah this next song, though it sounds like the last four songs, has quite a bounce to it, or yeah this next one breaks away from the pack and really stands out for it's throbbing bassline and drums.....sh*t like that

is this for a magazine?

I know what you mean dharna. The weekly I read in Seattle (The Stranger) has the worst reviews. First off they review the same type of garbage music week in and week out, and then they write crappy ass reviews, going off on personal-life-story tangents that have nothing to do with the music! Oh, and now they have a "hip hop column" that's just stupid...the guy thinks he knows hip hop, but he's just reworking standard, cliche comments and opinions and misspells peoples names (a sign that someone doesn't know what they're talking about in my opinion). Anyway, good luck with the review...I don't know anything about techno.

Blue,
you're hella smart! i've read your posts and i suggest you look into writing reviews for independent magazines and later take this dude's job! It would benefit the rest of the people who have to read that dude's ego trip week after week...I'm sure you would write really dope reviews..fo real tho.

thank you all for wishing me luck...this is my LAST article i'm outta there June 19th.
peace.

Ha ha! Thanks! But I'm not smart, I just play like I am on the internet! :D
I've actually thought about trying to turf this guy outta his own article, but I'm simply too lazy. Maybe I will though - I mean my girlfriend's moving outta town so I'll have more free time...and summer's just around the corner which means re-run city (get my ass off the couch, I can't believe I watch TV...I use to not even have a TV). We'll see...

not too up on techno, but i gotta admit i can be a house head when feel like it.. there's probably not a lotta great album albums in that genre.. mixes and comps are the way to go. I guess the more popular, old-school Detroit techno shit would be Juan Atkins aka Cybotron (dude who did that oldschool breakbeat "Clear"), Derrick May, or Carl Craig (who produced "The Detroit Experiment" ).. but that shit's definitely on a more jazzier tip. I guess some of King Britt's stuff could be labeled techno. same thing with them tweaker crazies Prodigy.

basically, if you there's nothing besides the repetitive throb that catches your attention or has you feelin it.. then it's prolly just whack shit. most of it is.
