NEW RELEASES:
Yesterday's New Quintet - Yesterday's Universe CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=13391
YNQ broke up: These words from Stones Throw Records; that Madlib's
virtual group of over 6 years had disbanded. Truth be told, for the
one band saying its goodbyes, Madlib has painstakingly brought in 10
more groups to hold the torch. The result, is arguably Otis Jackson
Jr's best album yet under the guise of these umpteen aliases,
spouting jazz melodies and funk-filled stomps. His chops are
noticeably improved and expanded here (with a little drumming help
from Karriem Riggins and Mamao Azymuth), managing to sound much more
like a jazz musician, and less like the earnest hip hop artist
striving to think outside the hip hop box. With the future ahead of
us, there's no telling where he will go from here, but best be sure,
after hearing this album, you will certainly dream! Comes with a
free YNQ 'Summer Suite' Bonus CD while supplies last!
Kruse - True Stories CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=9386
Tales of struggle, frustrations, and everyday livin', MC/Producer
Kruse returns with some breezy summer beats and a little help from
friends like Luckyiam, Himself, Pigeon John, Eligh and Sunspot Jonz.
While his Raw Materials EP gave you a glimpse into Kruse the MC, his
newest full length finds him both lyrically and musically on the up
and up.
Various Artists - Now-Again Re:Sounds CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=13432
Now-Again Records does it up proper-like, delving into the
magnificent world of soul and funk, twisting and turning knobs until
it's been turned upside down! Remixes, revamps and re-edits from fan
favorites such as Edan, Cut Chemist, J Rocc, Guilty Simpson,
Koushik, Aloe Blacc, paired alongside rarities from Detroit Sex
Machines, Kashmere Stage Band, LA Carnival, Amnesty and Leon
Mitchison. Believe us, this is one of the best releases out!
Essential listening!
Theory Hazit - Extra Credit CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=13231
Cincinnati, Ohio MC/Producer Theory Hazit's debut for Braille's
'Hip Hop IS Music' label shines with unmistakable open-ness without
sounding pompous or contrived, yet packs more than enough punch to
leave an impression on the listener. Appearances from Sojourn,
Braille, Sivion, Sharlock Poems and JustMe only strengthen the
cohesiveness of the songs as a whole. For fans of soulful chopped up
beats and message-driven music in the vein of Ohmega Watts, look no
further...
Wise Intelligent - Talented Timothy Taylor CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=13671
The official return of Poor Righteous Teachers' Wise Intelligent.
It's been a long time coming, but after making a few slim
appearances over the years, most notably and recently on Jel's 'Soft
Money' album, a full length was assuredly on the horizon. Over the
course of the jam-packed album, Wise waxes poetic about his life
experiences and current observations on the state of hip hop, making
this probably the most personal record he's written to date.
DJ Demon & DJ L-Train - Going Back to Cali-Biggie CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=13897
SD's DJ Demon and DJ L-Train mash it up with Biggie acapellas over
some classic west coast beats! You knew it was bound to happen
sooner or later, and we're glad it did!
Psychopop - Cutting Room Floor CDR EP
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=13904
Skrapez crew presents their newest edition of musical mayhem via new
moniker Psychopop: shredding beats, and as always impeccable drums.
Features Sumach on one track. This is for the hardcore beat heads.
Fire!
DJ Mayonnaise - Still Alive CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=13493
After nearly 8 years of silence, Mayonnaise returns with his
sophomore album, boasting a well balanced collection of dusty
sweeping and anthemic grooves. With only one vocal appearance, this
album provides a perfect transition into the current day musings of
the very much alive DJ Mayonnaise.
K-os - Collected CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=13711
K-os handpicks some of his classic and slept-on album cuts, along
with previously unreleased tracks, compiled onto one nicely priced
disc! Features his relatively unheard remix of Feist's 'Mushaboom.'
DJ Drez & Zaire Black - Panoramic Utopia CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=13810
Armed with the arsenal of Drez beats, Zaire Black steps up with a
brand new album. DJ Drez consistently provides a diverse yet focused
sonic pallette for Zaire to effortlessly springboard his
observations off of, ultimately making for an enjoyable listen.
Too Short & Friends - I Love The Bay CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=13871
Too Short grabs a heapful of his friends to throw down this hefty 21
track compilation. Appearances from E-40, Yukmouth, Turf Talk,
Mistah FAB, Zion I, Messy Marv, Dollar Will, and the list keeps on
coming!
DJ BK-One - Set In Motion CD
http://www.accesshiphop.com/store/?itemid=13696
Over 100 hip hop, funk, jazz, and afrobeat records...re-mixed,
re-arranged, and completely re-imagined by BK-One (Rhymesayers
artist and Brother Ali's touring DJ). This mix cd features exclusive
new songs by Slug (of Atmosphere) and Brother Ali, plus original
remixes of music by MF Doom, Nas, J-Live, Prince, UTFO, Jay-Z,
The Grouch, Ali Farka Toure, and Ludacris.
