Dear Cam
I just can't get into Amy Winehouse. I tried really hard like her, and it just wasn't clicking. I absolutely hate her singing style.
Help,
Ari.

Those pics somebody posted in the other thread were horrid. She's gonna be an alkie for life, or at least until they come up with a cure for ugly.

She can wail.
I haven't heard Frank yet-- isn't that the more jazzy/norah jonesish album?

Thats what everyone says but no. Theres a couple tracks like that but its pretty similar to the second album just less poppy.

"you know i'm no good" is tight
i'm pretty sure there's another couple amy winehouse threads in the music discussion already, cameron.. i'm also pretty sure listening to "frank" was suggested in there. fio.. "know you now" is a good song, but Black > Frank.

i think "back to black" is a much stronger album. i dig salaam remi's approach on "frank", and amy has more of an early erykah badu feel on the album. but, the retro feel that co-collaborator, mark ronson, brought to "back to black" and winehouse's more matured song writing abilities made it a lot stronger.
i don't get all the amy winehouse hate in here. i'm a big fan of this retro soul movement that's going on. and like i've said before, check out sharon jones and the dap kings. if you don't like them either, than i must assume you just don't have an ounce of soul in your body.

yeah... i agree.. "frank" has a good feel to it, but song for song, "black" is just a better album. i haven't really dug much of whatever else i've heard from mark ronson, but he definitely has great chemistry w/amy winehouse. salaam remi is one of those under the radar producers who just seems to always be around the big talent. i think chrisette michelle's album would have a much better sound if he was responsible for more than just the 2 tracks he produces on it.
i've only heard one song from sharon jones and the dap kings.. i think it was "what if we all stopped paying taxes?" off the "impeach the precedent" comp.. it was cool i guess.. it sounded pretty old. I didn't know they were a current act. Do they have a really good album or do you just dig the vibe of the music?
