Looks like it's finally coming out...

After years of being tightlipped about his highly anticipated Detox album, Dr. Dre recently spoke about his long awaited opus on Big Boy's Power 106 radio show in Los Angeles.

During a call in to the station to celebrate his birthday (February 18), the legendary producer confirmed that Detox will be dropping this year.

"I'm trying to get everybody that I've ever worked with over the years to appear on the records," explained Dre. "There are gonna be some new guys that I'm working with, Bishop Lamont and Slim the Mobster [Watch Video], those two guys I think are incredible, new artists out of the west coast that I'm trying to get out there"

"Trust me, this will be worth the wait, I'm trying to make this the one they remember me for. It's a lot of pressure but I'm feeling good about it. I feel like I'm my worst critic and if I'm loving it, everyone else will," he continued. " I'm tryna put 12, 13 songs on the album. I'm not totally sure about the month but it will be definitely be out this year."

As SOHH previously reported, Dre recently signed a multiyear deal with New Line Cinema for his newly formed film company, Crucial Films. The Compton bred beat maker plans to produce and score dark comedies before moving into other movie genres.

the only other more anticipated hip hop album in history was Chronic 2001... people, now, are actin the exact same way about detox as they were when 2001 was bout to drop.... and look what happened... 2001 was a hip hop masterpiece that year... stop worryin if detox is gonna be dope or not...

1) its dre.
2) 7 years worth of production and mastering.... its NOT going to be "bad".

I don't want "dope".

I want to be transported to another dimension in time and Hip-Hop space, in a euphoric state of mind, totally shattering the way I listen to music.

7 years should give me that. I want a "Thriller" Out of Dre.

if you play the cd, expecting a masterpiece, you might just get let down... but go into it not expecting much... have an honest, open ear... and I bet Detox will blow your socks off.

This man speaks the truth.

Besides, Ari, you will never be able to fully grasp this thing... it's a "West Coast" thing.

I don't think "WC" gives it some kind of sublime meaning. Nor does it give it an excuse to be subpar. We all know it'll be heralded a classic regardless due to the WC alone, but for 7 years excuse me for wanting some earth shattering content, especially since he only plans on having 12 to 13 songs on it!

Iespecially since he only plans on having 12 to 13 songs on it!

I think that's how long albums should be...20 something track albums are not hot... I'd rather have an album with 10-15 songs of dope shit than 20 tracks of unfocused, no cohesion having noise. The art of the "album" is long gone and needs to be brought back.

I'd have to agree.

It's gonna be meh. if Fiddy's on it, fuck that. if Em's on it, he better come extra raw.

we'll see.

I imagine this is what a girl would feel like when a dood brags about how good he is in bed. the dood better show and proove. (no homo on that, ya bitche's)

Well said man.....as for Detox, I've been anticipating this for a long minute, and my expectations will remain high. So what if it took 7 years, like dude said that's time for mastery, I can almost guarantee he stepped it up lyrically(was already on point), but will be better. Which of Dre's albums were ever a letdown?? I just can't see this release being whack, it'll be a WEST COAST banger!

yup. i always wondered why he said that and then went on to create two albums with the word "chronic" in the title. and then i read him saying something to the effect that his music represents the highest grade music such as chronic would be for marijuana.
