I'm writing an editorial for my website, about the pitfalls of signing with Sean Combs, and his plethora of victims. I've contacted the RIAA for accurate sales information, and I'm going to get in depth comparisons going on. I'd like to see what you guys think about him though. (Maybe for some quotes)

I know Dream had some hot ass tracks. Their cover of Mr. Telephone Man was fresh. Danity Kane to me just came off as garbage from the get go, I've yet to hear a track from them.

diddy's a business man first off. the dude clearly has money on his mind- over the actual quality of music he puts out. I'd like to be more educated on him and all, but I mean, the last decent album I've heard from badboy was the Lox's first album ;/

The man literally humps the Notorious B.I.G's corpse every year on March 9th, just to flood his pockets, and rarely do his children and widows see the finances, as he bought his catalog for a mere 200,000$. :(

didn't bad boy just release ANOTHER biggie reissue ready to die CD? It has remastered tracks or something?

I can say this about Danity Kane though- I lived with my girlfriend out in bumfuck northern california for awhile to save money before living down here... it was a population of dumpy ass people where radio station songs and trends are a golden ticket. She has two sisters and her two sisters had lots of friends... they all loved the shit out of Danity Kane- it was actually really funny. Diddy does know what he's doing in a business sense and I really respect him for that.

I honestly don't know who is on the Bad Boy roster... nor do i really care and I suppose that's the consensus here

Of course not. They only care about "Funky West Coast MC".
Can't blame them. But most people would like to know about senor Diddy's practices. :D

So, here's my opinion on Diddy:

When he was in his hey day (sp?) I could not stand him. I thought he was all that was wrong with hip hop/rap whatever u wanna call it and I swore to myself that if I ever saw him in public I'd kick his ass, or at least attempt to. I was also sort of an "elitist" at that point in my life and basically thought anything that wasn't artsy or had a deep ass message was on some bullshit..which, I guess, is still true...

Anyway fast forward to now or even a few years ago and I realize that he has his place in this thing we call hip hop, whether you like it or not. True I don't think he's much of an artist, but as someone on here stated, he knows what he's doing. I read an interview with him and he was talking about his latest album and he was saying, "Yeah, i know i'm not tight, but i'm just doing me and having fun" or something to that extent.

Basically, he knows that he's not Mos Def or Common or any other "real" rapper, he's not trying to be super lyrically lyrical with his miracle lyrics. He does pop music..and he's good at it. I think that artists like him help and hurt hip hop...on one hand they gain hip hop more mainstream credibility/visiblity and help spread it to cultures/age groups that may have written hip hop in the past and on the other they cheapen the artform and often times glamorize aspects that are "taboo" to underground artists. I guarantee he knows "real" hip hop and has hella knowledge on it, he just chooses to do what he's good at. Now if he came out trying to say he was dope than Nas, Jay, Mos or whoever, then yeah i'd hate on him too. I'm sure that ANY underground group would want to obtain the level of success he's had/continues to have..no matter what they might say on their records or whatever.

I think there is a place for all types of hip hop within this culture or "genre" of music..I don't want to think all the time, I don't want to party all the time and I don't want to be emo all the time. Hip Hop lacks balance...i think Kanye brought some balance back to hip hop...I think that all the so-called "great" rappers have had that, they were able to give you everything and had enough clever wordplay for the enthusiasts, enough club bangers for the ladies and enough street stuff for the thugs (or the wanna be thugs), which is hard to achieve.

In all honesty he's probably done waaaaaaaaaaaayyyy more for his community and peers than any backpack/underground rappers. It's like Jay said..."How can I help the poor if i'm one of them? So I got rich and gave back, to me that's a win-win"

Dude is also one hell of a business man/marketer. I can guaran-fucking-tee you that Danity Kane has no publishing rights or does not own their masters, which on one hand is fucked up for them, but most artists will tell you that they pretty much got fucked out the gates...dude is a hustler...period. you can hate on his artistic ability, but you cannot hate on his hustle.

K, end novel

heres a few quotes. feel free to use them:

"There is not a more perfect example of what I think sucks than Diddy."

"I regard his very minor and unspectacular role in the film Monsters Ball more highly than I do his entire music catalog. It is not likely that this will change, ever."

"Diddy is shit."

"Only Jermaine Dupri is more annoying."

"I would rather eat a bowl of feces than listen to an entire Diddy album."

i wouldnt really say its all puffys fault. i personally think anyone hes ever signed was trash to begin with. all he ever had was biggie and its damn hard to try to ever equal that success. i just think hes a terrible judge of talent. look at those shows hes made. good tv, bad music. period. thats all he is.

I got a quote for you.... "these hoes keep stepping on my toes." - p. diddy.

I am sure he is a fairly good business man, only because of the amount of money he has made. But since biggy he has only hurt the music industry. I hope he realizes as a business man he needs to step down and leave the music game to some other people.

FullMetal, what do u get paid 4 puttin' up a designated # of posts? Damn. Again, IF YOU'RE TRYNNA BE A JOURNALIST, then NOBODY wants to hear your opinion all in the posts. Save your opinions for the message board. Cause, even you are talking what you don't know. Do you know that this has been going on in record labels for years? Bad Boy is a SUB-LABEL of Arista, dog. At big, parent record labels, it is impossible to keep all the artists happy and secondly, they're all not gonna sell. For every Bad Boy artist you "say" got effed over, there's FOUR who got effed over back in the day at Motown, or at Sony, or Def Jam, or Universal, or BMG, or Warner Brother, or EMI. This has been goin' on for years. Bad Boy isn't even a PARENT record label and you somehow chose to single out Puff? Why? How about So So Def? Interscope? Death Row? Murda Inc.? Rap-A-Lot? hell, G-Unit, since you decided 2 come at a SUB-LABEL... And please, STOP inserting your

OPINIONS

in the forums. JUST STATE THE FACTS. Save your opinions for the message posts and PLEASE, I SERIOUSLY MEAN PLEASE, JUST PLEASE, TRY 2 talk what u know. AGAIN, take this as constructive criticism.

Jeezy Clears Up Rumors

March 6th, 2007 | Author: Andres Tardio

During NBA's All Star Weekend, many rap rumors flew wildly. Game Vs. Buck? Jeezy Vs. Game? Well, rumors have to be cleared up, and Jeezy spoke to do just that.
"To be honest with you, I had a ball," Jeezy told MTV last week. "I ain't get [bad vibes] from either one of them. If it was gonna be something, it would have been something. It ain't gotta be no song. We grown. That ain't the way you handle that. If it was a problem, it's a problem, but it wasn't a problem. People made something outta nothing. That's what I hate about the industry. ... I was hearing [rumors]. I was like, 'Hell no.' I was there, that ain't happen.

"I'mma keep it G...It was my party, I was where I was supposed to be. I'm cool with Buck and Game. Just by saying that, they respected that. They didn't have no words, they didn't have no altercation, just two people who ain't never really been in the same building at the same time in a long time. I guess everybody felt a way about that. I talked to Game after that, I talked to Buck after that. Nobody really said anything about it. It wasn't a problem. It was just everybody was in the building, it was a gangsta party. What's wrong with that? It was a lot of ladies, a lot of gangstas, a lot of fun, by the way."
