A message from Mason & Zeph: Besides being a good excuse to hang out in
the studio, burn trees, and listen to classic 60s jazz, this mix came
about for a few simple reasons. First, as hip-hop DJs who play mainly in
clubs where people aren't trying to dance to 'old' records, we rarely get
an opportunity to rock the jazz cuts we've collected over the years.
Second, we just wanted to try and blend the free, progressive vibe that
characterizes a lot of jazz with the simple party rocking beats of hip-
hop in the hope that some ill, unexpected ideas would come out. This
isn't really meant to be a mixtape for the afficianado's and purists even
though some might dig it. It's just two DJs doing what DJs do... trying
to move between records and styles and have some fun with it. We laughed
our asses off making this one and hope ya'll hear something that makes it
worth the listen...
