yeah I'm definitley feelin this, best coup release in years. my favorite mutiny with talib and black thought is bangin.
i heard some of this last thurs, and from what i heard, the drum tracks were pretty weak.. reminded me of some generic 80's new wave jazzercise beats... not feeling it sonically.. some tracks sounded like they could have been dope, but i'm sorry.. definitely not the hardest slaps from the coup.. of course, i didn't get a chance to really get into the lyrics and concepts as we were talking shit about the beats the whole time... i know.. we were hating.. i guess when hiphop artists sign to epitaph, they feel obligated to make white girls dance or somethin.. no offense, white girls.. hey, if i hear it again, i might like it.. there was a lot goin on at the time.

i guess it will be the best album of 2006
the production is incredible! i cant understand how anybody does not like synthies, rhytm guitars and greats guitar solos?!
the lyrics are great aswell. i am bumping the cd all the time...
"my favorite mutiny" is by far the weakest track, cant take it when kweli comes with "revolutinary mc" without saying anything profound.

Yeah I'm thinking this will be the best album dropped this year.
I'm real curious to see how it all turns out. The Coup have been criminally slept on for years. With all the talk about how The Bay is about to blow and Boots eating long time "conscious MC" heroes Black Thought and Kweli alive on the lead single, the success of this album will say alot about the current state of hip hop.

I wouldn't say it's the weakest track...although there are better ones I agree. I think Boots rips that track, and even though kweli comes weak, and black thought surprisingly is weak too, it still has a dope beat.

so i finally listened to the whole album driving from sac to vallejo last night by myself in my car, and i now can agree that this is a GREAT album.. top of my top 3 so far this year list. so yeah... like i said before, i really only heard like the first 4 tracks and it was being played in the background and i was listening to it all out of context... i guess i just got caught up in all the hyphiness of life... like i was expecting to hear some rick rock beats or something... wtf wuz i thinkin... maybe i been hangin w/too many little kids and teenagers lately... anyways, i was judging strictly on the drum patterns and sounds (which work because it's a concept album and they are trying to do something different musically)... but it's the vocals, lyrics, and synthesizers that truly shine... i think it's up there w/some of cube and outkast's best work. i apologize for my hastiness of judgement.. the coup has always been dope... ever since i dubbed a copy of "kill my landlord" that my homie boosted from tower records.
