an interesting thing about music....

i was at work the other day and i had some miles davis playing, back when he had charlie parker in the band... and these dudes are wailin.... i mean non stop, hard bop, a ton of energy............

and a customer comes in and she says, 'well this is some nice laid back music you got playin there.... you can still hear yourself think...'

maybe she just heard jazz, and automatically thought laid back, like a lot of jazz is........

just as people hear hiphop, regardless of the content, and they assume negativity and gang banging.....

Yes. People arent capable of having and "ear" for all types of music. I love everything about hip hop, soul, jazz, soul jazz, funk, trip hop and everything else that in my opinion falls into the soul music category.....

But when it comes to most country and most rock it all sounds the same to me. I know it doesnt really all sound the same but I cant hear the difference and when I hear most country music, all I think of is rednecks and hillbillys just like when most of our parents hear hip hop, even if its positive stuff they think negative lyrics and gangbangin.
