Artist: Eddie Meeks / Album: After This... I'll Holla (On Everythang I Love)
Even though Eddie Meeks has been releasing that hot shit for close to ten years, after listening to his debut solo release "After This... I'll Holla (On Everythang I Love)" it's clear that the hunger is still there. One third of the Atlanta based Prophetix, Meeks is on a mission to show the exactly what's on his mind. Armed with lyrical fire and beats courtesy of DJ Pocket, The Barber Brothers, Jimmy Ledrac and Prophetix own Jon Doe among others, "After This..." is one of those rare albums (at least these days) that you can play from beginning to end without any major bumps in the road or itchy fast-forward finger-itis. Guest artists include Mello Melanin (also of Prophetix fame), Willie Evans, James Scienide and Jax of Binkis Rec!!! who all help to keep things moving along nicely. Definitely worth picking up whatever the price. Rating: 4 out of 5

Review - Hip-hop with turntablism firmly in hand, Eddie Meeks journeys towards the center of the needle cartridge to the point where wax meets metal. The lyricism is ingenious and speaks volumes of street and urban life. The samples and rhythms aren't always what you'd expect from a hip-hop as its explores the roots of blues rock, jazz, and other black music from the South-you know the music that us white folks stole and called our own. Brilliant.

Infinito 2017 / Roddny Dangrr Fild / Domination Recordings / Urbnet Rating: $$$1/2
Political, intellectual and relevant are just a few ways to describe the work of Chicago's Infinito 2017, a Molemen affiliate and self-described unorthodox poet. His latest effort, Roddny Dangrr Fild, boasts eighteen tracks of pure underground passion, highlighted by jazzy production and original rhymes. Far from flashy, this has a lower budget feel from top to bottom, but that doesn't cramp Infinito's style or integrity. He's aware of his uniqueness ("I'm Like None Of Yawl") and demands respect on the breezy "Dixmoor Illinois" before chasing more cat than Too Short ("Alot Of Different"), but he's at his best on more down to earth and socially conscious efforts like "Proto-Complex" and "What Is A System".

Infinito 2017 - Roddny Dangrr Fild - Tragedy in bar Sequences Infinito can on a long list from Underground-Releases to review, its Diskographie is all attention valued. Tzarizm "Beatz to the Future" reviewed at http://www.Platform8470.com
Tzarizm / Beatz To The Future / Domination | 2005
Although born in Cali, raised in Memphis and residing in Long Island, NY for a while, this MC/producer, who dropped his first single "Ahahahaha" in 2002, reps Florida, US. On an underground hip-hop level, when you think Florida, you must think Domination Rec. The two connected and the result is this remix CD with mid school as well as new school classics.
The album title brings us back to the eighties but this really contains hits and long-lost pearls from the nineties. Ok, there's actually two songs from the eighties; namely Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing" who's been put in a dary yet all in all well-matching coat, and Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five's "The Message", thrown in a hot bowl of funky chicken soup. Tzarizm proves he's in for a challenge and tries to fit different kind of songs with a variety of beats, goin from rugged funk (Redman & Method Man's "How High Weedstock Remix"), that ol' nineties boom-bap (the smashing Big L - "MVP" Remix), to some genuine breaks (Planet Asia & Talib Kweli's "Don't Let It Up" Melvin Mix), magical soul (The Fugees' "How Many Mics") and givin a Mexican touch to Mobb Deep's "G.O.D. Father part 3". Some remixes contain lyrics by Tzarizm affiliates Nemo, Midaz, Vis Major, Conshus, there's a shout-out by Q-Unique and Dutchmassive even joins Digable Planets on the remix of their "4th Wonder".
"Beatz To The Future" enables you to have a good view on the craftsmanship of Tzarizm, who's workin with Pumpkinhead and Skhool Yard veterans Planet Asia and Turbin in the near future. The beats are straight up, no-nonsense hip-hop, fresh outta the MPC and with lots of variety. Of all the Izms, Tzarizm is definitely the funkiest.
