i understand that battling is a gigantic part of being an MC, but to me people that purely battle and want respect are like street ballers on those AND 1 mixtape videos. they cant make it in the "League" just as the battle MCs cant make it in the hiphop circuit. i give much more respect to an MC that has tapes, cds, vinyl etc. with intelligent rhymes(not to the anticon degree), than to some sharp-tongued battler trying to garner respect. who agrees, disagrees lets hear it.

I agree you need to be well rounded.. I heard dope battle emcee's before that make horrible songs.. And vice versa, dope writers that can't battle.. Being a dope battler can only bring you so far..

it does go both ways, but if your a dope emcee then it really doesnt matter. i know dudes who can freestyle better than they write, some who can battle better than they can rock a crowd, but i also know (personaly) a handfull of emcees that can do it all....

AMEN. makes you almost wish he would have signed with bad boy. we all know how wack puffy is, but even that would have sounded more interesting. but then again, i would have been really pissed if that happened, so it's all good. better luck next time, eyedea.

what if you are both?? I mean I battle, and love doing so,..battling is hella fun. but at the same time when I write rhymes i'm not writing punchline filled swift battle rhymes,I write thought provoking shit, basically when I write rhymes I just reach deep into my inner most feelings, and usually I write on some postive shit,..nonetheless I battle also
