What artists do you guys bump? For me, I listen to alot of Avante Garde, jazz fusion and jazz groove artists like Billy Cobham (drums), Mike Clark (drums), Grant Green(elec. guitar), Jimmy Smith(hammond), Yusef Lateef(flute), Medeski Maritn & Wood, Idris Muhammed (drums), Jaco Pastorius(bass), and Roy Ayers (vibes)

i'm not really up on all the new school ish. I dig old school stuff like miles, trane, monk, etc...all the sort of typical stuff i guess you first hear or are introduced to, maybe not though...

i am always interested in new stuff and an old roomate listened to some crazy stuff, some of it was dope and some was too experimental for me.

I'm actually writing my final paper on Jimmy Smith for my jazz history class. If you want, I can send it to you when I'm done.

I'm really into free-jazz, westcoast/cool and soul-jazz/hardbop right now. But I also listen to bebop, some swing, some ragtime, and don't forget boogiewoogie, that's the stuff.

Funny you mentioned Grant Green. I got "Alive!" today in the mail. It features Bobby Hutcherson (vibes), Ronnie Foster (organ), and Idris Muhammad (drums). I highly reconmend checking it out if you haven't heard it. It's a soul-jazz classic! 100% smooth buttery grooves...mmm.

Yo tight. I'd be glad to take a look at the project your doing on Jimmy Smith. (llazaga@hotmail.com)He is one of my fav's cuz I dig the B-3 alot rather than modern keys. Most of the stuff I like to listen to is hardbop mainly cuz I like to listen to the drummers like this cat named Mike Clark-Man this guy has a funky "swang" style. Jazz drums are very interesting to me cuz they just don't play loud and repetitive but smooth, syncopated, and improvized.

I like jazz but find I hardly listen to it...as such I stopped buying jazz CDs. Of course I like the standards (Monk, Coltrane, Miles). There's also this cat from Oregon named Julian Snow who rips shit on the Rhoades (or maybe it's a B3, but I think it's the Rhoades). Also, I just heard one song from this guy named Brian Bromwood...plays the upright, and it was sweet. I was gonna buy the album, but it was $18...

I also really like Kenny G...
