So, I got Acey's new album and at first I was fairly impressed. I mean, it's definately better than "Accepted Eclectic", but he's definately not doing shit like he was up through ABOHL/A-Team/Haiku d'Etat (I don't remember which was recorded last). There's some really good songs on "Hip Hop And The World...", but for the most part he doesn't have that "Acey flow". I think a big part of it is the production - Elusive's beats just aren't right for Acey's flow. The other thing I gotta pick on is how Acey uses songs that have been previously released on his albums - I hate this, it's a cop-out to stretch the length of an album. And "Future Rockers" is a suck-ass song to begin with, so why he re-used it is beyond me. Anyway, when I listen to "To Whom It May Concern..." and the last tracks rolls around with "We will never fall the fuck off, we promise" I always think that the promose has been broken - sure, Acey's still one of the tops, but he's fallen off from the heights he was previously at.

On a related note: I think Acey and Ab should do WAY more shit together. I think these are the two MCs that are most lethal when put together. I been listening to all my old Acey, Blowed, Haiku, A-Team, etc, and I don't think they've made one song together that ISN'T bangin, while they've both made many songs on their own that are close to doodoo. I dare you, list a duet with a better Win/Lose record than Acey and Ab Rude...

I agree, it's not VERY dope compared to his past work but him teaming up with Elusive is ill. I can't front on this album, I'm most definately feeling it. Also, you have to remember that this more of just a little teaser before he drops Love & Hate supposedly later on this year.

Definitely not a classic, but decent. I'd rather listen to his first record.

You don't think they do a TON of stuff together as it is?

Yeah, I'm hoping Love & Hate is more along the lines of "A Book...". Do you know who's producing it? Mumbles did a great job on "A Book..." and whoever produced "All Balls..." did an excellent job too - those beats were just made for Acey!

And yeah, Acey and Ab do do a lot of shit together...I'm just saying that maybe if he brought Ab in on this latest album on a couple tracks the album would be better - have a couple more stand-out tracks. Basically I was just listening to all the stuff they previously did and was amazed at the consistent quality of it all.

only acey and elusive song i ever heard that i liked was "organic electricity" and acey had effects like a mofo on the vocals. as many people know i'm not a big elusive fan, but i still give him props. i'm just not into his beat styles. he does a good job and drops a lot of music. it must be great working with aceyalone you know. but i haven't heard this new album. what i will say is that whoever hasn't heard it yet, go grab that Freestyle Fellowship "Shakadoom" CD/Wax. Especially if you're feeling mumbles/od style production. It's all joints from 98 or so produced by OD, Nobody, and JMD (underground railroad) I believe. It's short but it's dope.
