what do yall think about his new shit 'fast cars, fire, danger, knives, hockey masks and blacklights yadda yadda...'
i listened to the first track and was blown away. i was thinkin hell yeah he finally got away from the wierd unrhythmic beats and went back to some dope shit and combined it with a dope new style.
unfortunately, the rest of the cd was garbage. but damn that first track was heat!!!!! he should just take that style and make a full length lp with that in mind. dope beats and a sick flow. there are 1 or 2 other tracks that are ok, but the rest are shit.

I haven't bought a rap record in SO long. Just Theadore Unit, and Soulja Rags in the past 3 months... ...I'm always broke as fuck.
I haven't bought a record in over a year, my turns must be like "what the fuck?"
I'm always making my own music. I haven't even peeped "Classic" in it's entirity.
I think I'll be buying Devin next.

i havent peeped his new stuff yet, but for some reason ive been listening to labor days recently...a great album if i can say so myself..this guy really knows how to climax a song. i could care less about people that hate; ace rock has some really intersting things to say.

shit is dope all the way through, his style is a little more accessible now, but if for anything buy the ep for the ridiculous 80 page booklet, his rhymes are like no one elses out there and his style is very inimitable.

yeah. i always liked the way he could push a song to a peak without getting all gimmicky with extra drum hits and shit. the beats would just kinda build naturally and his voice complemented them well. his newer shit for the most part sounds like the reason people hate on def jux in general. really wild out nasally vocal style as opposed to his earlier almost monotone, deep, dark voice he used. and the beats followed a similar progression. where he once had (not to say minimal, cuz they weren't) but subdued beats maybe?, he uses all wild obnoxious shit. again, for the most part. bazooka has a few saviors on it but overall just a shift in direction. off the top of my head i liked mars attacks, frijoles, and the el-p collab (we're famous?). i heard propmos for the ep but it just sounded like he was walking further down the same path.
and i wasn't going to pay 14 bucks for a goddamn booklet. i'm sure it's cool but i've found those things are worthless after a few days and they sit on the shelf with the rest of my cds. i'll spend the money on a better album or an actual book of poems that i haven't already listened to .
*i liked him better when he was a little insane and paranoid. :(

most of fast cars sounded like bazooka tooth to me, except for track 1 like i said.
i think labor days is a hiphop classic but bazooka tooth was unlistenable for me. fast cars is better than bazooka but i'm still not feelin it that much.

i don't see how you can say that this album was grabage...i was feelin' the whole album, i think there was one song i wasn't really into, but the rest was tight.
I don't think it is anything like, bazooka tooth. I can tell a diffence in his style now, he seems more user friendly, or some shit. VUt i was feelin' the album.

Fast Cars and Holy Smokes are dope, rest is garbage.
I don't know, I think he fell off since Labor Days. At first I thought Bazooka Tooth was so shitty because of a lack of Blockhead, but I'm not even feeling Blockhead that much on this. Whatever.
By the way, that little booklet is a piece of shit. They didn't include his two best albums, Appleseed and Music 4 Earthworms for the lyrics. Bitches.

well if they did, then that would increase the demand for a re-release of those two albums, since as of now they're pretty hard to get (unless you soulseek or something). This is something that he probably doesnt want to do.

Then he should re-release Music 4 Earthworms and Appleseed, I'd buy it. Plus, most people don't even know that side of Aesop Rock, it might make some believers after two consecutive mediocre albums.

give me a large break
"that side" of aesop rock?
wtf does that mean?
yes, bazooka tooth was bad...... i agree
and who said the production was like "classic"
i hope youre not talking LL classic, because that statement surely would lack rational thought.

Bazooka Tooth = bad
Fast Cars EP = bad

3 is a tight track, i'll agree with you on that one.
4 is missing something in the beat. i just can't get with that clunking sound that is used instead of a kick.
6 is ok, but i'm not really feelin the flows
7 is ok, it might grow on me (no homo)

thats the one i did have to let grow on me.
I pre-ordered the new Aesop c.d. when I first heard about it. I was all excited about getting that signed lyric-book; did anyone else get it? It's pretty neat..
but anyways, I was impressed with this c.d. COMPARED to 'Bazooka Tooth', that was the only c.d. I wasn't feeling as much, though.. I was only disappointed at the number of tracks on the new c.d. I was expecting way more, but hopefully this is to hold us over 'til he drops a lot more tracks coming up.
I miss anything from Music for Earthworms, Appleseed, Float & Labor Days. Aesop Rock's sound has transformed quite a bit since then, but I think it has to do with the way his life has changed through the making of each c.d.
I like anything from Aesop Rock; he is mad skilled/talented/unique & creative. He is one of my favorite LIVE experiences.

Everyone that bought the EP got the booklet. But I don't understand what's so neat about it - it just has all his lyrics. I'm never gonna read through all that, so it seems kinda worthless to me. Or are you saying that the autograph is neat?

Well, it IS an EP...
