Whenever people are talking about their favorite Gangstarr album nobody ever mentions Moment of Truth. What the hell is up wit that? That's one of my favorite rap albums......

yeah, I've noticed that too.... Its probably got something to do with the fact that Hard to Earn and Daily Operation are much better albums.

I think Hard to Earn is their best, but I didn't always feel that way. I was like the original poster...thinking Moment of Truth was their best, and them getting better with each album. But after listening to them back-to-back I feel Hard to Earn is their best.
The Ownerz? Pffft...is that album even better than No More Mr. Nice Guy???

ownerz was a poor album for gangstar. maybe not a bad album for the time (now) but poor in comparison to there previous releases. moment of truth was an incredible album but as others have said it didn't have the resounding effect that earlier albums had. if anything, moment of truth proved that gangstar could stay relevant after decades.

I think they can still maintain relevancy with a future release. The Roots and De La Soul came back strong after serious missteps. Primo could rely less on the "formula"; bring in outside producers if need be. The greatness is still there, I chalk up Ownerz as the result of complacency and/or a lack of focus.

but without premier, it's not a gangstar album. they've done that (several times) w/ the jazzmatazz series. come to think of it i would by a new jazmatazz cd if it relied less on the neo-soul stuff and put more emphasis on more classic jazz genre stuff.

Daily Operation is fuckin ridiculous. However I think that what they did on Moment of Truth is absolutely amazing. Primo's beats are dope as fuck and Guru's lyrics and message are on point. In no way am I saying that this wasn't the case on their other albums but just especially so on this one....

you think its a good representation of the classic gangstarr tracks?
but yeah i agree that moment of truth is one of the dopest, if not THE dopest gangstarr album
