I think I have a lot more respect for Entertainment Weekly:
The List:
1. Eric B & Rakim Paid In Full (1987)
2. De La Soul 3 Feet High And Rising (1989)
3. The Notorious B.I.G. Ready To Die (1994)
4. Public Enemy Fear Of A Black Planet (1990)
5. RUN-DMC Raising Hell (1986)
6. Dr. Dre The Chronic (1992)
7. Wu-Tang Clan Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) (1993)
8. Nas Illmatic (1994)
9. A Tribe Called Quest The Low End Theory (1991)
10. Beastie Boys Paul's Boutique (1989)
11. Outkast Aquemini (1998)
12. Cypress Hill Cypress Hill (1991)
13. Gang Starr Daily Operation (1992)
14. Ice Cube Death Certificate (1991)
15. Jay-Z The Blueprint (2001)
16. LL Cool J Mama Said Knock You Out (1990)
17. Eminem The Marshall Mathers LP (2000)
18. Lauryn Hill The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill (1998)
19. The Pharcyde Bizarre Ride ll The Pharcyde (1992)
20. Mos Def Black On Both Sides (1999)
21. Boogie Down Productions By All Means Necessary (1988)
22. Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five The Message (1982)
23. Missy Elliott Miss E...So Addictive (2001)
24. Dr. Octagon Dr. Octagonecologyst (1996)
25. Aceyalone A Book Of Human Language (1998)
not the best list... but a lot better than others from mainstream publications.

yeah thats a decent list. i wouldn't have missy on it though. and i'd go with jay-z's 1st album over blueprint. and black star over black on both sides. and how the hell they gonna put biggie at #3 but 2pac didn't even make the list. whateverz...

nah blueprint is jay-z's best work in my opinion-that album is good from beginning all the way to the hidden tracks, thats when i really knew jay z was on my list as one of the best ever but on jay z's first album "22 twos" DAM!!!people who think jay z suck must check that he fuckin ripped it something nasty
*that album is actually one of my top 5

Missy obviously shouldn't be on there... Pac's "Me Against the World" needs to be there... "Resurrection" should be there... but yeah, overall I think it's a very solid list. Better than the so-called hip hop publications would do.

Much better than any Rolling Stone list.

Mama Said Knock You Out was one of my favorites, but don't you think it should be one of LL's older one's on that list?

pac never really released a classic album. he was just an overall amazing emcee that had a knack for releasing a bunch of above average cds.
jay-z's blueprint was good enough, i guess.
I don't see how they picked death certificate over amerikka's most wanted...
not a bad list overall.

i disagree. he should be on there, like joe said with "me against the world." i would consider all eyes on me classic too.
*but that is a very solid list

Mos def the best list ever put out by a mainstream pub. You know they have heads in that company when they do a feature review on Aes Rock and Atmosphere, tell you to download MURS' "To a Black Man" and list Soul Position's album as a summer must buy or what the fuck ever it was. I may be alone in thinking "Aquemini" to be OutKasts' 3rd best. An Acey album making the list made me happy.
p.s. "Illmatic" is better than "Ready to Die" IMO.
peace kids
p.p.s.s. where the fuck is "LIQUID SWORDS"!?!?!?
I am all by my lonesome when I say this ^^^^is one of the top 13 rap albums ever???

Shit, I just noticed "Fear of a Black Planet" on that list. Replace with "It Takes a Nation..." please.
Thanks,

I have to agree with all of you saying Missy should not be on this list. Lauryn for sure belongs, but I think they probably just stuck Missy in there to give another nod to the ladies...unnecessary.

Acey making it onto a mainstream list is an accomplishment.

yeah... but i think they just put that and doc octogon just to get some indie cred... those 2 albums seem very much like token selections... i would have prefered to see innercity griots rather than book of human language...

i'm impressed with that list. much better than anything i've seen in the mainstream media. see: MTV's top 22 mc's.

Something is just burning inside of me (no homo) wanting there to be a (Kool Keith) right next to where it says Dr. Octogon...although it is fun when I'm talkin hip hop with some guy who starts takling about how kool keith ripped Dr. Octogon's style (or viz versa).
