Olive Green - “The Doo Bad Hustle” b/w “Concrete Cavalier”
CWR7001

From the streets of San Francisco, Candle Wax Records presents... Olive Green. A dynamic production duo with their own brand of vinyl-only sample based instrumental hip hop. Two guys, a couple of MPCs and a decent sized record collection. Part of the illustrious Vinyl Monkeys family, these guys have been putting in work. From the title track for Adeem's international release “Sweet Talking Your Brain” (as the Eclectic), to skate videos and documentary film soundtracks like “I Bleed Black,” to the popular “Trapdoor” psych mix and various side projects. Side A “The Doo Bad Hustle” is a laid back—beer in one hand, spliff in the other—California summertime barbeque house party kind of thing. As the song builds, DJ Blake9 gets loose on the techs to round it all out.

The flip “Concrete Cavalier” is more aggressive, driving, if you will. Like the chase scene from a movie, it takes you fishtailing around corners and has you flying over steep San Francisco streets. DJ King Most kicks in the turbocharger as we near the finish line. Blake9's Candle Wax Records is the reincarnation of Irish Car Bomb Records. The label that brought you “Say What” by Comel_15 and “Apple Pie” by Jaysonic of Time Machine. Candle Wax has an ear for underground hip hop you can get excited about and has plans to bring it to you. Keep your ears open...
